With over a couple hundred slides and color pictures, I now can appreciate a bit more the performance of this scanner. Slowly but surely, I am digitalizing 25 years + imagery. The only thing missing for me is 1. an adjustable plastic bracket to better work with no longer standard pictures, and 2. a paper instruction booklet vs the online versus which is time consuming. Still happy with this purchase.

Epson 700

Since there are no other relatively inexpensive film scanners on the market that will do 4x5 I bought the V700. It scan reflective ok. BUT. Not transparencies. I'm using a Mac with OS 6,5 software. I think that Epson doesn't worry about the Mac market. I'm taking it to a local tech person next week. We'll see. The basic setup under film is only for 6x something film sizes (120 size film). No 35mm no 4x5.

i have two Perfection V500, one Perfection V750 and have just received a new Perfection V700 used for slide, photo and document digitizing. Have processed about 38,000 slides and several thousand photos with no malfunction of Epson equipment. New V700 software easily installed and unit put into production with no problems within the hour after Fed Ex delivery.

Have recveived the V700 only 3 days ago and have already scanned over 100 4"x5" glass plate negatives (made positives on scanner & printed) and several more 4.5"x6" glass plate negatives (made positives on scanner & printed) - easy to use and setup. Thank you Epson!!!!

Advertised scan options are misleading for Lion
on December 5, 2011

I've just set up and tested the scanner, and it seems to do a good job. While I generally make image adjustments in Photoshop, the product description did advertise many scanning options that appear to be available when using the software that comes with the scanner. However, that software doesn't work with Lion. The only scanning software that works seems to be the Print/Scan button in the Preferences folder. It's pretty generic.

Love it! Worked right out of the box with no instructions:-) Actually, I loaded the software, hooked up the machine according to the giant set of instructions, scanned prints and slides with ease and was up and running production in less than an hour. Buy it. Great product.
