We have an All-In-One with an OK scanner, but I bought the V700 to get a few hundred baby pictures scanned for our son's graduation party. Plus I have several old pictures handed down to us by previous generations that are now safe in digital formats with backups. The quality and options for auto-corrections are great. I love being able to place multiple pictures on the scanner and having it identify each photo and easily make corrections, if needed.

The Perfection V700 Photo scanner met all my expectations. The set-up was not overly complicated, it does an excellent job of scanning photographic prints and a good job with transparencies and negatives. The film holders are not as robust as some might require, but do an adequate job when used with care.

I have been using the scanner for over a year now and it has become one of my right hand tools for photo imagery. I restore tons of black and whites along with color and more often than not it pulls through for me before the photos are go to photoshop for finishing.
That saying, the scanner is a learn as you go scanner. I wish it had a scanner for dummies style book since there may be tricks I might be missing out on.

Epson V700 Scanner

I have only used this scanner for a few days now but I am very pleased with the performance. We display most of our photos on a HD tv thru apple tv and dvd and the detail on prints and slides is greatly improved. We use Mac OS 10.7.3 Lion and the software download at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supportLion.jsp works for epson software. I am using usb 2 connection and everything works as designed I am replacing an older epson and scans are faster. the holders are a bit complicated and the stock spacers yield the clearest scans but everything works. I have not used any of the additional software as i have been using photoshop for a few years and make most of my adjustments there.

Great scanner, to bad it's stuck with windows!

Just received the V700 scanner. I usually run Linux, but was having a few difficulties, so I loaded a version of Windows 8 that I have for this type of problem. The software loaded and is running fine although I haven't had much time to play with the device. I stuck a number of slides (Kodachrome from the 50's) in and the software picked the positive transparency option and loaded each into its own file, nice. Although pretty slow, it's still faster than I can do it... I would recommend this to others.
The film holders are quite delicate and I worry about breaking them, so I need to be extra careful as this is why I purchase the device, for film scanning especially large format (4x5 inch). From what I've seen it does a good job.
Living without windows is a dream, too bad I had to regress to it to use the best parts of this product.
