We had been led to believe that such a small dishwasher would be very noisy. We were pleased with its quiet operation and the quality of the cleaning. Very easy to use, and very easy to install beneath our kitchen counter. For the quality is reasonably priced.

After having a portable for a long time we were concerned about the capacity of an 18 inch wide undercounter. But the tall tub held almost the same as the large portable. Does an excellent job and is quiet. Does everything but put the dishes back up for you.

When we moved in 4 years ago, we knew that we were going to have to replace the gold 1980's style dishwasher that we inherited. Flash-forward 4 years and we finally purchased a new dishwasher. Due to the design of our kitchen, we knew we could only get an 18 inch dishwasher. This dishwasher works great. The run cycle is about an hour and a half with settings of normal wash and heated dry. We usually set the dishwasher to run after we've gone to sleep (using the delay start function of course). This isn't the quietest dishwasher on the planet, but it certainly beats washing dishes by hand. We can still easily hear the television/music in the other room as well. You do have to yank on the latch pretty good to open the dishwasher, but it's not that big of a deal.

We have been using the dishwasher for a couple of months now and overall we like it. It is very easy to use with straight forward controls. Has a tough time completely drying plastic tupperware, but overall does a great job of cleaning the dishes.

Small, but does it All

I recently did a kitchen renovation and researched small dishwashers. I am single and a large sized dishwasher was a waste of space for me, as well as the fact that it would take me forever to fill it up. I chose the Whirlpool Compact Tall Tub. I love it! As the name implies, it's compact, yet when there are 5 of us for dinner, it more than handles the job. It's surprising just how much can be loaded into this dishwasher, and my dishes come out shiny and spotless. I frequently hear, "oh, I didn't know you could buy a small dishwasher". I bought the stainless steel finish and it blends beautifully in my kitchen.

I had the compact tall tub dishwasher installed 5 months ago and have been pleased until a week ago. A part or 2 are now on order under warranty to be replaced. The unit stopped taking in wash water since the sensor or defective part indicates it has filled with water. I do like the size and is ideal for a couple. The capacity would not work for a family.
