Does not write to Windows 8.1/10 64bit

I bought this BR for writing DVDs and BRs as well.
It's so frustrating that after upgrading to windows 8.1 (from 7) and now 10 I have an expensive reader, cause it can not write under these OSes.
Unit needs an urgent firmware update

Cant download program from LG

I downloaded the update for this product and after I did when I opened the program and tried to update it would do nothing. So I uninstalled and reinstalled and it did the same thing. So I guess if there are any updates for this product than I will not be able to download it.

Stayed with a winner when I needed to upgrade a failing drive. LG BD burner is exactly what I was looking for when balancing value and price.

Frustratingly inferior software bundle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought LG BH16NS Blu ray and DVD burner some months ago. Now that I need to make a Video DVD, I realise that the software provided for burneing (Power producer 5.5.) does not accept mpeg4 format. And it keeps prompting me to buz the 6.0 version. Mpeg4 is a basic format. I bought the burner so I could make video DVDs of my works when required. It is quite frustrating. Would anyone know how to get around this nonsense? LG must provide appropriate softwares with the burner ar very clearly speel out that one has to buy softwares separately. I feel cheated. Will appreciate if LG can provide me the neccesary software to operate it.

I installed this in my DELL XPS8700 that had a spare drive bay. Installation of the drive was easy, although I did have a problem with the door on the computer. It wouldn't open to allow access to the drive tray. After a slight adjustment of the drive in the bay, everything works as it should. This drive is FAST! Quiet too! Drivers installed after I booted up and installed the included software. I burned a BluRay disc shortly after I installed the drive and it took it less than 45 minutes to write 22Gb of data.
I'd highly recommend this drive to anyone looking to either upgrade or replace an older drive.

The "Perfect recorder"!

I tested it with a lot of supports: never a fail, fantastic for CD, DVD and BD recording, very quiet in writing, it has been recognized by W7 in a flash.
I'm very satisfied and it has a good "aestetic" design too.

Installation was very easy. No problems encountered.
Plays a broad variety of formats. Burns Blu-ray and regular DVD's using my Corel Video Studio Pro X6
software.
I have only had it for about a month but so far so good.

Excellent Blu-ray Disc Writer

The drive installed easily with no problems, and has been easy to use. It included several programs, a player, data disc creator, adviser, label printer. It did not come with a video editing program, but worked perfectly with the one I already had. I was able to create (burn) several Blu Ray discs with no problems, which all worked in a standard Blu Ray player. All in all, an excellent drive so far.
