We had an old Bissell rug cleaner for many years and it died. We loved it and it cleaned well. This new one (model 17N4) is better and faster. Does a great job.

This is my 4th Bissel carpet cleaner. The first one just flat wore out from frequent use. I donated the second one to a thrift store because I decided I wanted a canister model. After using it a while, I realized I really preferred the upright model, so I gave the canister to my sister and bought this one. We have a dog and 2 cats (one long-haired) and this cleaner had done an amazing job! It even got up some old stains that I'd attempted to clean by hand, and our 10-year-old carpet almost looks new. I especially like that the guard over the brushes comes off so easily for removing accumulated pet hair. Honestly, the only thing that keeps me from giving it an Excellent rating is the length of the cord. Ten more feet would have been perfect. I have an older home and outlets aren't as well-placed as in more modern construction. It's a minor annoyance to have to stop and move the plug. But other than that, I give this cleaner 4 1/2 stars!

We purchased this carpet cleaner a couple of weeks ago and used it for the first time yesterday. This product works great and leaves the carpet very dry, 24 hours to dry is lots of time. Couldn't be happier!

Fantastic Cleaner

I found this deep cleaner to be so powerful that it showed how much my vacuum cleaner (not a Bissell) did not pick up - I have used it twice on my living room rug, after continually vacuuming, but each time this deep cleaner brings up even more hair deep from within the carpet that I never knew was there. If I had a loom I could knit a wardrobe from all that black hair that comes up!!! I have a beige carpet and 4 black cats, one with long hair!! This deep cleaner makes the carpet look like new and I Intend to use it in conjunction with the spotbot - which I love. The spotbot is a life saver for all those accidents my one cat continually has on the carpet (despite all the litter boxes I have down for her). While the power on this deep cleaner is fantastic, I found it's weight a little much for me. Bringing it up the stairs to do another room is out of the question. I would have call or wait for my husband or brother to carry it up and down the steps. Oh one other thing, I would prefer to have the on/off switch on the top of the handle, rather than on the front of the machine. Both things are a small inconvenience for such a fantastic cleaner!!

My old Bissell cleaner after 5 years was working well, but I wanted a newer one with the newest technology. I have a large dog and he sheds a lot but my Bissell vac picks up so well I barely get any hair come though my machine. I love the attachment for stairs and quick clean up. My dog stains the carpet with his chews and gets them bloody from them too and I don't ever pretreat and I leave it on there for weeks at a time and the machine cleans it up PERFECT every time. I have zero complaints about the tank size it comes apart so perfect to clean it! Only complaint is I keep wanting new ones and the old ones keep working like new. ;)

Have had a Bissell for many years. This new one is much improved. Easier to clean and does a very good job. Had some mud on the carpet that wasn't able to get out. Now it is gone after using the new machine.

Really good, but a couple of things bug me

I just used the cleaner for the 1st time. It did a GREAT job, but it was EXTREMELY hard to push. We have some kind of sculptured carpet and I hadn't thought about the thickness of the carpet and pad. There doesn't seem to be any adjustment for carpet height. It was very tiring to try to push. I'm 5'9" and 175 pounds and a retired construction worker. The thing wore me out :( My wife would NEVER be able to use this. And, I haven't found any way to empty any water / cleaning fluid that remains in the bag in the unit when finished. Probably won't be a problem because our two cats leave us lots of throw-ups almost every day. I was astounded how much cat hair came up. I had to take the unit apart after I finished to clean it out and that was easy enough to do. Overall, it is a very good unit. Just needs to be self-propelled and / or a height adjustment. PS I just wondered if the brushes might be turning backwards and making it hard to push. Hmm. I will have to check on that.

This product works great. With dogs and cats in the house, we occasionally have issues. I started spot cleaning with my green machine (which I love also) and my husband said "don't bother with that this will take care of it". My husband is very picky and he thinks the premier works great. I am very pleased with the product and am very happy we purchased it.
