My Son was gifted this vacuum cleaner and wasn't certain if it worked. We had just recently moved into an apartment w/carpet & was very dissatisfied with the condition and cleanliness of the carpet. Per the Apt Manager, the carpet has been thoroughly cleaned. I attempted to use my vacuum cleaner on the carpet several times a week, but I wasn't satisfied with the outcome. After thoroughly cleaning the vacuum cleaner he was gifted, I started using it & OMG!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing in the canister. After vacuuming the entire apartment, I put my old vacuum in the storage unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this vacuum based on the easy empty feature and large dirt container. This is probably the worst vacuum I have ever owned. I have owned many Bissell products over the years and have always been really happy with the system and performance until now. I have owned this unit for about 2 months now and have used it 4 or 5 times. I would use it more, but it takes some serious muscle, even on the highest setting, to push the vacuum across the carpet. It takes twice as long as it should because the settings are too low over all. The unit is great for hardwood. The other cons of this are it is made super cheap- the plastic is very thin and while using it on the carpet, which is very hard to push on, I can feel the plastic flexing under my hand. The cord wrap has so thin of plastic it has already busted. The attachment holder can't keep anything in place so I can't even keep the attachments with me while vacuuming. While using my vacuum the 2nd time the brush roll attachment fell and shattered on the floor. Now I am stuck with a vacuum I can barely use, unless I only use it on the hardwood, until I can afford to buy another one. Bissell needs to go back to the quality they used to have.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have two dogs and this vacuum does a great job of getting their hair up off the carpet. It's lightweight, pretty powerful, and easy to empty. I especially like the powered hand tool, it works really well. I am impressed with the performance for the price!

Have had the the bissell for a few months and at first I was happy with it for the price. But it just started smelling like something was burning and it was not working so I took it apart and found the belt broke and the end of the brush was completely damaged. Now I can't even use it.. I had my old vacuum for 5 year this lasted A few months not impressed at all... keep shopping
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The only aspect I don't like about the vacuum is the shortness of the cord. The vacuum performs well; it's just inconvenient to move the cord to different outlets while using it. It's actually a pretty minor inconvenience. I like the transparency of the bag-less vacuum. It does have powerful suction.
