My son got this for me for Christmas. I had a Dyson and hated it. To heavy awful to empty to hard to sweep new carpet as it has no adjust settings. This Bissel is fantastic I swept my entire house Christmas morning.

Good vacuum BUT height adjuster is a placebo

This is my second Bissell. First one is still going after 10 years but stinky even after filter cleaning and changing. They work well, no issues there. However, the height adjustment knob is a total placebo and completely non functional. There are plastic tabs that prevent the height from actually adjusting. Same issue exists on the floor models. Cutting the tabs off fixes this, but Bissell needs to resolve whatever underlying issue caused this design.

BELTS BURNING

Has anyone else had a problem with a new belt burning completely in two pieces? The Bissell One Pass worked great for a few months. I cleaned it and checked for obstructions regularly, always letting everything dry thoroughly before putting it back together. One day I smelled rubber burning and checked the belt. It was not badly worn but was burned in two and the shafts was extremely hot. I took it apart, cleaned it thoroughly, let it dry 2-3 days, took the hose off and checked for obstructions, put on a new belt, reassembled everything, set the VC on the highest setting, and turned it on. Immediately, there was a smell of burning rubber. When I checked the new belt, it was bured in two and the shafts was extremely hot. The shafts is apparently not turning, possibly indicating that the motor is locked up. Any suggesting? Thanks.

Fantastic for pet owners

I have two cats and like to vaccuum frequently to help keep my husband's allergies at bay. That and our kitten seems to prefer his litter outside of the box. This thing does a great job at cleaning up hair and litter. I like to keep it clean and I've noticed it's very easy to disassemble and reassemble. Just out of curiosity, I brought this vaccuum to my parents' house to see how it stacked up against their vacs- they have a dog with a long dense double coat and theirs never seems to get all the hair out. One spot in the carpet is slightly darker than the rest. I always thought it was dirt because it was in a highly traveled area. A few passes with this Bissell revealed that the dark spot was actually dog hair that the other vacs could never completely get! I'm going to get them this Bissell for Christmas.
I would recommend this to a friend!
