[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about 5 months ago during a renovation. I initially had an issue with a faint skweeking problem on the freezer drawer. The repairman came out as soon as
I contacted Kitchen Aid and the issue was resolved. I would like the interior of the drawers to look a little more finished but overall very happy with the purchase. The ice maker comes automatically however i also bought a KitchenAid ice maker so the ice maker in the freezer drawer was not needed. It is however nice to have should I need additional ice. For the most part it is turned off however. Very pleased.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Flaw in warning bell system is maddening

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This would be a great appliance if Kitchen aid would correct the problem with the drawers closing and with the intermittent sounding of a drawer open warning chime...particularly when the draw has been repeatedly checked and closed.
We will be calling Kitchen Aid service as the two reset fixes are not reliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Some design issues

I've had it for about 3 weeks. On the plus side, it was more reasonably priced than competitors. It is working just fine. I have two complaints. First, the doors are easily left open, and closing one door may inadvertently result in the other door opening slightly. In a great example of dumb technology, the darn thing beeps when the door is open. I wish the designers had simply put in magnets or springs to insure the doors shut and stayed shut. I don't want it to instead constantly (yes, every day or so) remind me of its design failings! Also, the ice maker takes up a huge amount of space. You can easily turn off ice making and reclaim a bit of that space where the ice tray would go, but it would be nice to be able to remove the ice maker itself, so that the rest of the space could be reclaimed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love it but freezer light went off, how to change

We love the ice cubes, perfect. No issues except the bottom freezer portion just went out. How do i change it and where is it? This is not in the manual.
