Great for cooking not for ears.

We have owned this model for about 3 yrs. I love the size and the layout! I am able to get 5 pans on at a time. BUT when the burners are turned on about 1/2 way we get a high pitch sound and for about 3 of our family we have to have the burners adjusted so that our ears are not ringing. We have had 2 different repair men out and they do not hear anything unusual so we have been unable to remedy the situation. I grew up with gas stoves and I have never had a situation like this before. So, works great and a great size but your ears may always be asking for burner adjustments.

Professional Quality at Home

My new 36" Whirlpool Gas Cooktop is an extreme upgrade from my 1958 Roper "4" burner Cooktop. I love the high end appearance and ease of use. It sits within approximately a few inches of itself, so no under-counter cabinet space is wasted. Plus, the electric ignition means my stove starts each time, every time I need it. With elegant stainless steel, and 5 burners, there's plenty of room and plenty of style! Overall, it's a great cooktop!

I would have chosen a simmer burner if I would have known the burner cooked so hot, Not really user friendly when cleaning

Love the burners and the heavy grates. The 36" width allows us to cook with large pans and pots at the same time.

Love this stove!

I was a little reluctant to purchase a stanless sleel stovetop at first after seeing others struggle to keep theirs clean. Boy, am I glad I took a chance! It cleans up with just a wipe of a damp cloth. The controls are in a great spot, never get too hot to handle, and come off for easy cleaning also. All in all, the best stove I've ever owned, and I've owned many over the years.

Microwave function dropped dead

Bought in 2010, but for a summer vacation home where it gets light use for only two months a year, so its actual age at death last Fall was about 14 months at most. We were going to call our excellent repairman but, according to the reviews, the problem is most likely the magnetron and a replacement will also fail in a short time, so we'll have to spring for purchase and installation of new micro-convection, which very definitely will NOT be a Whirlpool.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A good gas top

Had this cooktop for many years. Rugged and powerful. Cleaning is a bit tedious, especially in the corners. No simmer, I stack the center grate on the left grate and use the small back burner to simmer...a bit precarious but it works.
