Some problems

This cooktop has been around for a while. When I first purchased my house in 2005, I purchased one of these and had installed in my kitchen. Worked like clockwork for the next 3 years, until the regulator blew out and I had a literal blow torch in my kitchen. Luckily, nothing major was damaged. I then went and purchased another since I liked the way that it looked in my kitchen. About a year ago, the electronic starter went out and now I have to light the cook top with a match, which is a bit old-school for my taste. That being said, the unit has worked very well for me; easy to clean, looks good. Just those minor issue have given me pause for a higher score.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great look, substantial. Good power. Has rugged feeling and quality look. Large racks have to be removed to clean around burners but that is minor issue.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Microwave function dropped dead

Bought in 2010, but for a summer vacation home where it gets light use for only two months a year, so its actual age at death last Fall was about 14 months at most. We were going to call our excellent repairman but, according to the reviews, the problem is most likely the magnetron and a replacement will also fail in a short time, so we'll have to spring for purchase and installation of new micro-convection, which very definitely will NOT be a Whirlpool.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
