I was an iphone user, and swithing to Windows phone has been the best decision I made. System is very easy to use, got used to it in a few hours. If you have a laptop with windows 8, your phone can be an extension to it. Also the best part is that you are not forced to purchase windows only equipment like apple does. The camera is awesome and incredible resolution. I love this phone, thank you Windows.

1020: Still the flagship

NOTHING that has come out since the 1020 holds a candle to this device. The camera remains unmatched and the unit still performs very smoothly. While a couple of the newer Lumia have a few improved specs, the 1020 is still the best. It's just a shame that no new flagship has come out to succeed the 1020.

Fails to Live Up to Potential

After almost a year of using this phone, I still regret getting it.
The Best: -- Lightweight and perfectly sized for its features. -- Camera is good for well lit scenes. But if you are looking for a camera that will go anywhere, do anything, forget it. At the end of the day, the quality is no better, and I argue lower, than iPhone or Samsung Galaxy cameras I've used.
The Rest: -- Battery life is poor under moderate use. Out for the day and need to make calls, read emails, and check information via the web? Expect 4-6 hours max on the battery. And since the battery can't be user-replaced, you are stuck carrying a charger or recharging unit, doubling or tripling the net weight. -- Apps. They just don't exist for Windows Phones. More than half of my frequently used business apps that are on iPhone and Android just aren't here. And until a recent Windows 8.1 update, I couldn't access the web-based equivalent apps via the browser due to a glitch in it. I was one week away from throwing the phone away when the browser glitch was fixed via the update. -- Slow response from Microsoft to fix well documented, critical issues. See above. The browser glitch was documented in Microsoft's online user forums for over a year before it was fixed. And not being able to log into key business sites (American Airlines, for example# was a MAJOR issue. -- Lots of promise, little delivery. The integration of Microsoft products across platforms is the marketing buzz from them. But in practice, it's a nightmare. I feel I am using a prerelease version of software all the time. And it has gotten only worse with the Windows 10 release. Examples: Office on the phone won't open password-secured files, such as an Excel file where I keep confidential information. Contacts get duplicated in odd ways, or fail to propagate across devices. If the software worked as promised, it would be great. But it just doesn't. Microsoft needs a Steve Jobs to kick and scream and send it back until it works well. -- Camera is limited to well lit scenes. But if you are looking for a camera that will go anywhere, do anything, forget it. At the end of the day, the quality is no better, and I argue lower, than iPhone or Samsung Galaxy cameras I've used. -- Mechanical quality is poor. I dropped the phone about 1 foot onto a desk, and the screen splintered. Not cracked, but splintered into 100+ shards. Had it replaced - replacement parts are 2x to 3x iPhone and Samsung parts. Screen and/or case has since warped a bit, so that the screen is separating from the case on one side.
In summary, this phone has potential, but the lack of promised functionality and no apps make this #and other Windows phones) a no-go.

So after 5 months with this phone I must tell everyone I can, do not buy this phone. After the consistent freezes(multiple times a day), incredibly poor data speeds(phones 1-2 years older on wifi get better connectivity), and ridiculous loading times for any and all apps I am giving up. I'm very technically savvy and had no worries about going to windows but no app behaves the same way as it does with android or IOS, nor does the camera even compare. The loading time to get to a place where I can take pictures is excessive. Trying to send text messages has become almost impossible because of the constant freezing and the keyboard is horrible. Yes I have fat fingers, but that was never an issue with my android or iPhone. Take my advice, skip this phone and windows phones in general. They're not ready and the updates aren't nearly often enough to fix all the issues there are.

An early adopter of the iPhone for its nifty size, touch screen and apps, before there was a number in the name and for 5 generations after that, I would eagerly and only recommend the iPhone to friends. No more. I LOVE MY LUMINA 1020! I owned a Lumina 920 before and experienced a significant shift in productivity for my business. Why? I wasn't experiencing lost meeting schedules, emails or contacts. I had a fully functional mobile version of Office mobile (at no extra cost) so I can open almost all email attachments and shared documents. I can talk on the phone and work at the same time (thanks AT&T). Then, I got the 1020. It added phenominal picture quality and display, enough real estate so I can see what I am doing and a great screen saver option that allows me to see the time and incoming messages/texts without appearing to look at my watch in meetings (I got the case with the extra battery that allows me to stand the phone up in front of me so that I don't have to bend over the table to look at the phone). I was tickled the first time that my bluetooth in the car activated with an incoming text message and the car read the message to me followed by a request for me to respond. I have been using mobile phones since they were in bags. I have never enjoyed using a mobile phone as much as I enjoy my 1020 and I have never been this impressed this long by ANY technology. Heck, I am so over the iMAC that I am using to type this message.
