Screen dies, & then you are SOL - completely!

My screen died all of a sudden - a pure black screen - and now I have no way of accessing all of the personal data that was on it. I hear it running when I charge it up, and the clock alarms I set before it died go off - continuously, but it doesn't show up in File Explorer when hooked to the computer. I can't even find a way to scrub all that personal info off of it, either. Not a good design
