Z50 performance

My take on this..lenovos are very great laptops. Even though its a base unit - the performance is excellent. Its has good DVD play softwares, different softwares for PDF files. I would definitely recommend this unit ; furthermore I wanted an optical drive!
I would recommend this to a friend!

NO ANTI GLARE

Bought the 709 dollar version it was good and all but it promised me antiglare and it was anything but antiglare dont know if it was false advertisement but i will probably return it

Good Home Purchase... Not on the go

I love this laptop, when it's at home. Plugged in, everything is smooth and fast and clear. However, i am a university student and when i need to take notes in class... battery won't last the entire time I'm there. Screen is reflective but can be worked around it. Even with power saving on, no wi-fi, etc, battery still drains like crazy
Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing laptop for it's price but if you're a university student doing long days, you might want to reconsider.

ok laptop, but has internet connectivity issues

This laptop overall has good specs (I got the i7 version).
An ongoing issue I am having is web connectivity. The wireless card constantly drops the connection, and I have to manually reset it.
Another annoying thing is that the laptop is UEFI only, and cannot be switched to legacy boot as far as I can tell, even after looking into it quite a bit.
When I bought the computer it was listed as having a 1TB HDD with an 8GB SSD, but now is listed an a 1TB hybrid with an 8GB SSD cache (incredibly misleading actually)
Lastly, the number pad has a really bad layout, and uses an actual divide and multiply sign, instead of / and *, which is really, really weird.
3/5, would not buy again

Wishing for better battery life

I purchased this laptop in Jan 2014. By Sep I was having problems with the battery life. Initially it just turns off without warning of low battery charge. Eventually the battery doesn't charge anymore and needs to be plugged in everytime I use it. Sent the item to the service center for repair and they don't have the service part in stock. I don't know how long the repair will take considering that I use the laptop for work and Lenovo will not provide a temporary replacement unit for me to use while my computer is being repaired.

GREAT PERFORMANCE!

I bought the i7 4510 U and it is doing pretty good! Boots up in 10 seconds. However, the features were only okay. The keyboard seemed too frangible for my taste. If there were more lights (like lights on the keyboard or something) then it would look really classy.
Very light, reliable. However, after 8 months, the fan turned on for no reason. I'm not dumb; I'm saying that before, the fan barely turns on after rigorous web surfing, but after....
VISUAL DISPLAY: Needs to have better graphics and brightness. vEry dim.
