This ice maker is a perfect replacement for a 24 year old SubZero machine. The size is exact and the hookups were even easier than the SubZero. The stainless front matches and dresses up our remodelled kitchen The only drawback is that the door is larger and extends further from the counter This is a minor detail to adjust to. The size and clarity of the perfect cubes is identical. The built in filter has not had to be replaced yet but is defiantly going to be a plus. The construction and layout is improved and should make maintaining the coils easier. Good product.

Nice machine but something's missing

This new ice machine replaced my KitchenAid I've had for 9 years. The old one didn't have a water filter. This one has an "Ice2" filter that twists into the front control panel. Logically, you'd think if a filter is required for the machine to work properly, KitchenAid would have installed it at the factory during assembly. Think again. For the price we paid, KitchenAid should have sold a complete product that worked straight out of the box. That was not the case. I was not happy getting a new machine and then discovering all the parts to make it function properly are not included. You have been warned.

But I recommend that the drain tube and feed line be included with this unit.
Also it should have said that it only has a gravity drain and does not include the drain pump.

This is a replacement for an old Kitchenaid ice maker. Nice new features, filtration etc... it makes wonderful small "cubes". I love it. This ice makes all beverages better.
