Cheaper than identical whirlpool

I am researching a replacement bottom freezer fridge to replace my 3 year old Whirlpool, which ices up in the freezer section. The defrost cycle causes water to pool in the bottom and freeze, after which it spills over onto the floor. Research has shown this to be a design fault in the defrost drip away and evaporate system. Various repair recommended options included Whirlpool’s own replacement kit, a new control board as the defrost cycle will not initiate, ($340.00 plus labour), or, do it yourself kludge. (Purchase control board on line for $40.00!) This Amanda is the exact same fridge, except for the brand name and cheaper price!
