KitchenAid French Door Refrigerator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the KitchenAid refrigerator for 6 months. Feature I like are: lower freezer and upper refrigerator, the temperature control is accurate and even, adjustable shelves, pull out meat/cheese tray, etched door pulls which don't show fingerprints, and relatively easy-to-clean stainless exterior. The energy-efficient feature makes it noisy and the vibrations emitted really bothered my ears (tennitus) - to the extent I thought I would need to return it; however I recently bought a high quality floor pad (used for sound absorption in automobiles) and put it underneath the refrigerator which has reduced the high pitched sound! Happy customer now - hope that tip might be helpful to others.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The space that we have for a refrigerator is limited and so I really thought that I would have to sacrifice features and design when I needed to purchase a new refrigerator. However this is a very attractive refrigerator with features such as full length produce drawer and filtered water dispenser. My only issue so far is that the crisper drawers tend to catch on the humidity control sticks when closing the drawer. When this happens the drawers can be difficult to open. I am concerned that the sticks will eventually break off. Otherwise, I do like the refrigerator and like the way that it looks in kitchen.

This refrigerator replaced an older GE. Externally we were attracted to the new black stainless look. This is our first exposure to a twin door model with the lower pull out drawer freezer. We mostly like this but it's hard getting used to a twin door configuration having never owned one before. The only negative I have is that the water dispenser is inside the refrigerator which is fine but the button to dispense the water is hard to reach and hold while filling a 16 ounce glass. It's just not convenient so I'm back to filling a container and placing it on the shelf instead of using the integrated water dispenser. This is a beautiful appliance but would be better served aesthetically if the Kitchen Aid emblem was removable or at least considerably smaller. I t kind of takes away from the clean look of the black stainless. I do plan to call Kitchen Aid to see if there is an easy way to remove it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was limited to only 36" for my new refrigerator,my Girlfriend had her heart set on a French door style. I was open for any kind of refrigerator as long as it was new and 24 cubic feet. I lost the out and and got the 22 cubic foot French door by KitchenAid. And I am so happy I did. It really has great features like ice maker, water dispenser, push button temp controls which are easy to read. Door shelf that can hold 2 gal' of milk.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought the fridge about a month ago and we are really happy with our purchase. Lots of room in the fridge and good drawers with features like a shelf that can be folded for taller items on the shelf below. It’s a beautiful fridge and hopefully will last us a long time!
Like that the water is on the inside versus outside of the fridge taking up room and probably needing maintenance at some point (more cleaning).

Looks great but... the details killed it.

I was excited about my new purchase of this fridge. Thankfully, I did a bit more research when I got home. What I read, scared me so I went back to the store and did some checking. I ended up cancelling the order and I'm getting an LG (yuck) instead. Why?
Simple. Maytag has shelves that have no dam on the rear. Further, they are about 1.5 inches off the back of the fridge. So why is that significant? Because any spill will immediately drain off the back edge. And what is that bad? Because KitchenAid decided to put a permanent piece of styrofoam along the rear wall, behind the drawers.
When your goo oozes down the back, it will get stuck in that styrofoam and it will be *impossible* to get out. First, styrofoam is soft (no rubbing). Second, the foam is permanently affixed, meaning that any mess will get pulled into the small gap between the foam and the rear wall, etc.
This is a maintenance nightmare and, potentially, a source for bad bacteria to grow. At its best, the flaw will be unsightly and messy. At its worst, the flaw could be a significant health hazard.
Now, I like to buy American. You know, support the American worker, our economy, our independence. But when I encounter a design flaw as big as this one, I simply will not purchase that product. LG's fridge doesn't have this problem. GE didn't have exactly what I wanted, so LG it is. Sorry KitchenAid. I've used your appliances for years; in fact, the fridge I'm replacing is a KA. But this time around, you had a fail.

Design flaw in door

We bought this refrigerator three years ago and have had a problem with the left door almost from the beginning. I have had the door repaired once at a great expense and now the vertical hinge or mullion in between the doors is broken in two places. The design of this door is terrible. A neighbor has the same refrigerator and has the exact same problem. Don’t waste your money on this model!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So happy with our new Kitchenaid Refrigerator. Love the door alarm warning feature, split shelf and especially the bottom freezer. It makes access to the veg and fruit crispers at a more convenient level since we are in them multiple times a day. We are so happy with purchase.
