ONCE a great product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thought to update 12 year old kitchenaid French door refrigerator since we replaced our dishwasher. The new fridge is louder than old one, the freezer hisses, and the drawers hard to slide. Not the product of old.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sleek and functional

There’s more than enough freezer space with the ice bin. We’re a condiment household and there’s a surplus of door space. I couldn’t be happier with the upgrade!

Looks good, but already issues

Dislike the ‘wire’ style freezer drawer, small items always falling through. Deli drawer has weird cover that’s a nuisance. Door shelves don’t hold much. Overall not happy with.

36" French Door

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this unit because it was one of the very few standard depth models available to fit a 36" opening with no thru-the-door ice or water dispenser. Generally satisfied except freezer drawers could be sturdier and the stainless steel finish shows every fingerprint.

Better than what we had

Doors did not align properly and technician said that is common, had to change the gaskets between doors to get them to close better.
The interior water dispenser is on the left side. And yet it is clear that the left door neds to be clsoed first then the right so you have to pne both doors to get at it. SHould have placed that feature on the right side so only one door needed to be opened.
I really wish there were better instruction manuals provided with thses appliances as not everyone can access the instructions online.
Our ice maker overflowed, so we turned it off for a couple days and this caused freezer to shut off too causing melting of food and ice turned into a big block. Need a better system for measuring ice in the container then allowing device to stop making ice constantly.
Still figuring out the "half-shelf: feature and what to place there, like a milk carton or juice container. Needs also to be mounted on right side so only one door needs to be opned to access it.
The cheese keeper area cannot be open when the fruit and vegetable drawers are opened. Makes it a little frustrating when loading groceried into fridge.
Noise of cooling and ice making is a little louder than expected. Makes the cat run away LOL!

Does all the basics well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installed about a month ago as part of a kitchen remodel. Since then, these observations: (1) The layout with freezer on bottom makes sense since the refrigerator section gets more use than the freezer. (2) If you're replacing a unit with in-door ice and water you may miss that feature. Chilled filtered water and ice require opening a door, and there's no crushed ice. The upside is it's a simple system less prone to failures/repairs. (3) Lighting and ability to find things in refrigerator are great thanks to see-through shelves. (4) Produce/fruit and deli/meats drawers are temperature adjustable and work fine but feel somewhat flimsy. (5) Exterior design is elegantly simple and upscale while doors and handles feel solid and substantial. (6) Compressor is audible when running as a lower-frequency "thrum". Not intrusive or objectionable, but noticeable in a quiet room.
Bottom line, a good design that does all the basics without the complexities (e.g. video screens, internet connection, in-door ice with ice making in fridge section) that appliance repairman warn are invitations to future repairs.
