Blue Ray has opened new worlds..Pandora, high def, etc.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, can hook up to my laptop

Excellent product except the search function on the remote could be better.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: needs a wheel search feature on the remote

Good entry level 3D BD player

Site specs claims no BD-Wise but found that not true. It does not however decode DTS-HD MA. I use unprocessed bitsream to my AVR so this was not an issue for me but may be for some. I did not care about internet or wireless because this is all done via our new Samsung LED TV. I'm not a big fan of the front touch buttons as they seem a little slow to respond and you are not sure if it even registered so you sit and wait to see.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: no dts-hd ma, do not like front touch buttons

some problems to read BD

Overall the BD-D5500 is a excellent box. but some time when I put a BD disk for the first time, It has problems to read it. I have to turn off and on and then it works fine.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: not 100% reliable

This player opens very easily and starts playing the disc with no problems....the picture is out of this world!! I love Samsung products!!!!
