I love Samsung products! This purchase was an upgrade from BD1000, which I have to continue to update its firmware, hence my decision to purchase this model. It received very good ratings from Consumer Reports. The ease of set up was a piece of cake. I will definitely purchase another Samsung product in the future :)
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

great picture, awful performance everywhere else
on March 12, 2012

Great pic when combined with a PN59D6500. Love it.
Performance everywhere else is terrible. Slow menus, apps are unusable, slow to load and are unresponsive.
Discs take forever to load. "Buttons" on unit are barely responsive.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality

I have had 3 of these 3D B-R players model BD-D5500 that won't play disks after a while. There is something seriously wrong with these units.
Cons: Poor quality, won't play disks
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great range of features, excellent compatibility with Viera TV

My initial impression is that the BD-D5500 offers a wide range of features at an excellent "street" price. The setup and software updating process was quick and easy. I haven't yet tried the Internet options but would probably use the Samsung Viera TV for that. My only suggestion to Samsung for future models would be to spend a bit more money on the "buttons" (they are very sensitive) and to make the product a bit more "solid"; it conveys an impression of fragility.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, good value
Cons: seeming "fragility"
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bad streaming
on April 27, 2012
Posted by: antics
I wrote a very detailed review about what the issues where, and it "did not meet the posting guidelines" and was deleted. I bought one of these, had constant issues streaming interNET movies. Extremely low speeds, could not stream HD at all without rebuffering every minute or so. I bought another bluray from another manufacturer and have had no problems with it whatsoever.
Cons: poor streaming video

Excellent player works well with my samsung tv Un46c6300 and the Apps part is great for watching internet like, Netflix ,,, but could use firmware update for that as netflix sometimes freezes and I have to reset by turning power off to player,,, may be buffer does not clear otherwise!! player itself is perfect (highly Recommended)
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!
