Received this scanner for Christmas as my children knew was wanting to scan all our slides so could put on CD and the hard drive. Have over 50 trays of slides with 40 slides in each tray. These slides go back to 1953 so you can see they are only a few years old. The scanner does a great job and have made some prints of some of them which have turned out very good. When hear those complain about the end result from their slides well you know the end result can only be as good as what you are working with. This scanner is one that is doing a real good job of even enhancing the color and takes off all the little extra dust. Would recomend this one to anyone like myself that knows nothing about scanning slides as it is easy to follow directions and work with. After finish with the slides am going to start on all our photos.

The scanner performs as promised, however the plug from the lid to the scanner bed is very difficult to install & should be more uni - positional

I've on
Y been using the Epson 4490 for two day but already it was easy to setup and as long as there is space between thehotos I been able to scan to fivehotos at a time. The Epson recognizes it and makes separate photos the auto fix immediately recognizes there is something wrong with the colors and make the correction.

I was looking for a document scanner and researched many. I came across the 4490 which will allow me to scan documents but the hundreds of slides and photos that my dad took back in the 70s and early 80s. He was an avid photographer and I now have a way to preserve our family memories. It is easy to use and I recommend it highly! Kudos to Epson for a great product!

Simplicity

In a age of multi-function phones and other electronics, it was nice to find a product that does exactly what you want.
We had media that we needed to convert and this scanner did it all wonderfully. It handled slides and photographs wonderfully. The carrier for the slides was well thought out.
The carrier for the negatives no so much. One little design change would make this the perfect scanner. As is there is no way to hold the negative in place while the cover is snapped into place, the negative tends to move around. this is very frustrating. By adding some little extrusions to capture the track of the negative to help keep them lined up would make a big improvement in the negative carrier.
This is the only downside. The speed, the quality of the finished product, the ease of installation all contribute to make this a quality product.
I would recommend this to a friend!
