Epson Perfection 4490 Photo Scanner

I love this machine, easy to use and great scans. It is slow but that works for me, i am able to work on other things at the same time.I am scanning negitives from the 40's and 50"s and the results are great. I am not using the Adobe software, but just importing them to Picassa and using their software and it looks great.Did I mention that I LOVE THIS MACHINE. Thank you for allowing me to save these memories for the rest of my family.

I have great results scanning photos and also pdf files for inclusion in my general files.
Excellent reading and clear copies. Easy to set up and use.

I just got the 4490 for a few days and like it already. It performs very well, better than what I had expected. I tried a few cheaper brands but this one is worth the money. I am keeping this one even though I was willing to spend more. I am still learning all the applications and have many slides to go through and also old B & W pictures plus old negatives. Having Adobe Photoshop Elements included was helpful. Now my R340 printer gets a good workout. Which by the way is an excellent photo printer!

My only problem is the leghth of time it takes to scan negatives and slides but maybe that's partially because of my computer but it certainly works It will take me a little time to be at home with it as I'm no computer expert the frames for slides and negatives are flimsy but overall it works well

The flatbed scan is correct. But in despite that took very very long to download the CD software that was included, this machine DOES NOT DO ANYTHING WITH TRANSPARENCIES, IT JUST DOES NOT WORK AT ALL,IN SUMMARY IT IS A GOOD (AVERAGE) FLATBED SCANNER BUT WE COULD NOT DO ANY OF OUR SLIDES (POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE TRANSPARENCIES)
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Needed a scanner to process my box full of prints. Does a great job on pictures, but once I tried the negative scan feature I was blown away. It does a better job on negatives. It would be nice if it could be a bit faster, but that is because I have so many items to process. Software is easy to use. All in all a great scanner.
