So far, so mostly good

One jam so far, fewer sheets than it's supposed to be able to accommodate, but you should always go way fewer than recommended, I've found. However, it's held up to some decent use (esp today!).
Pros: Quiet Operation, Mess Reduction
Cons: jam resistance good but not perfect

In Love With My Fellowes!

I LOVE my new Fellowes Shredder. It is just like my previous one. I HAD TO HAVE the same kind as before! I am not too certain how long I had the previous one, but I certainly overworked it by cleaning out years of old files, etc. I don't think I took proper care of him....did not oil it enough. I promise my new shredder that I will take much better care of him....I LOVE him. Tiger

I replaced a "lesser" shredder I had been using for several years. The only thing that bothered me was the price although when I looked around, every shredder that was as sturdy as this one was a similar or higher price.
If it lasts me as long as my other one did, it was worth the outlay.

Best Purchase Ever

This is my second DS-1 shredder. I ruined the first one by accidentally inserting a paper with a nickel attached. I searched and searched for another just like it. Purchased a different model and returned it as I could not get the basket to stay locked in place after turning it on. Find this model very reliable for my usage

Be Careful Cleaning

We have owned and loved this shredder for almost 2 years. It is a very functional and attractive shredder. It never game us any trouble until our 2 year old got some food on it. We wipped it down with a damp rag (not overly wet) and it hasn't worked since. Now we need to buy another shredder.

Good Until Warranty Runs Ourt

It is safe...especially once it decides it will only run in reverse. It says 11 sheets, I would not try it often. Basket is good size and design but dont let it get near full before emptying or else you will have a mess on your hands.

Poor value for the money

My Fellowes DS-1 cross-cut shredder was a gift three years ago. It has had very limited careful use by me and none by anyone else.
What a disappointment that it became completely useless between one use and the next attempt several weeks later. It is not jammed and worked perfectly the time when last working. Although it is out of warranty, I think you need to know that this product did not meet my expectations.
The slightly larger Fellowes model in my office has had abusive service by numerous people and continues to work. The DS-1 has been treated carefully but appears to have bad electronic circuitry.

Absolutely LOVE!!!

This is my third shredder I've bought and is absolutely the BEST ever! I can't begin to say how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it's operation and the fact that it does not jam up like the other shredders I had. Only thing, you do have to empty it when it reaches the top and the only thing I don't like is the way the basket is designed. It's kind of hard to dump shreddng into a bag without spilling any of it. Still think it's a great shredder though!
