Best Purchase Ever

Before this camera, I owned a canon 40D and after the 5D Mark II was launched in 2008 I got my self a FF 5D Mark II. Why I bought a "OLD" 1Ds Mark II?
Good question. I think the answer is pretty simple. The 5D Mark II is just not good enough. It's nice camera, but here are some reasons why I bought the 1Ds Mark II after owing both 40D and 5D Mark II (By priority):
1. 45 AF point instead of 11 AF point (+ 6 hidden). This is probably why so many Pros like the 1Ds so much.
2. 100% * 100% view finder compare to 98% * 98%.
3. Higher Sync speed when useing E-TTL II Flash. 1/250 vs 1/200.
4. Superior build qulity. I had bad experence with the BG-E6 girp for the 5D Mark II the gear inside was borken! With the 1Ds series you have the built in vertical grip and there is no gap between the body and grip.
5. The price is only 1/3 compare to 2004 when it was launched. 1Ds cameras was designed for high end users but 5D Mark II is not. Hate to say so but if you compare them side by side it's easy to tell.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Nice features/settings, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky
I would recommend this to a friend!

Have owned it for 4 years now. I wish it had 100,000 ISO performance, but that's it. I have done everything with this body. From sitting in a blind all day at -5 degrees F, 2-3 thousand shot weddings, you name it it has done it without flinching once. I shoot some at 1600 and have never once had a complaint on image quality. The autofocus is stellar.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, good battery life
Cons: Complicated controls/menu
