Latest generation of calculator seems to process faster than my 7 year old predecessor (which I lost). IRR functions are quicker. Good thing the calculator is really works well, because the case is in a different class. I hate the case. It’s cheap, thin, vinyl material. It doesn’t hold its shape where I can easily reinsert the calculator without having to squeeze it in. The case was stuck to the package when I opened it. Peeling it off the package left material on the case, which will not come off. Now I have line running the length of the case. My old case was much better quality. Geez HP, I’m willing to pay top dollar for the unit. It would be nice to have a case that was of equal quality to the calculator.
I would recommend this to a friend!

In natural light the display is difficult to read. Numbers appear where they should not and the comma shows through the period. It's blurry.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my favorite calculator of all time, but the third time I have had to purchase it because of quality issues.
This unit replaces a previous unit I had for over ten years when the display started to go. Could not be without the calculator and the programming capability with the financial functions.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 1992 vintage HP 12C finally turned on for the last time. Replacement is the 12C Platinum, which I bought for less than I paid in 1992 and has done all I have sked it for in the past week.,
There are just a few reasons I can't give the HP 12c Platinum edition 5 stars. First, the web site does not make it clear or easy to discover that there is a new, non-Platinum edition that outperforms the Platinum edition! Second, the graphics on the original are superior to the Platinum edition; they are easier to read and have more contrast. Third, there is one missing feature for all 12c editions; the value of Pi is not built in. There is plenty of unused "shift" (f or g) space left on the keyboard so this would be an easy fix. I suggest "shift f RCL" as the candidate as a solution for the future.
