I bought the emergency radio after our last electrical outage. My criteria was that it had to have emergency notification, run on ac with a battery backup. In less than a month I have received two emergency notices. Neither one directly affected me, but it is nice to know that I have a notification if/when an emergency happens.

My old Midland Weather Alert Radio finally died after 15+ years of service. Naturally, I thought I couldn't go wrong with purchasing another Midland to replace it. Through the many waves of severe weather we have experienced this spring, this new Midland radio has performed great. This model has more bells and whistles than I need, but has been well worth the price for the reliability and peace of mind. Thanks Midland. I hope this one lasts as long as the last one.

I am extremely pleased with this radio. It has great sound, and it offers a tremendous number of features. I live in an area where severe storms are fairly common, so this radio will have a permanent place with my emergency gear. The WR300 is exactly what I was looking for in a weather radio.

Bought this to replace both my old weather alert station and my alarm clock, wanting to replace two devices with one. Problem with using it as your main alarm clock, is the display is hard to see on it. You have to be at just the right angle/height. You also can’t see the display at night without turning the backlight on, which is way to bright it a dark room.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A Challenge to Program

Just received the radio today, so I do not yet know how it will function in an emergency. But it is something of challenge to program, and the display is difficult to read — the contrast in the display panel is not nearly what you see in the web site photos.

The Midland WR-300 that I have owned now for a few years works great! I’ve already implemented the new SAME codes that were recently released. To my surprise, despite the fact that the antenna broke in half (mostly due to poor storage conditions), and the battery cover was also lost, the batteries remain intact and the radio works just fine! A quality product that I can definitely suggest to my family members!

2nd one of this model to FAIL!!!

Just when you need this most, it fails. I bought one years ago and right after the warranty expired, the weather radio portion of this unit went completely silent. Midland replaced it after a bit of haggling. Now the 2nd one has died in similar fashion. These radios have some kind of poorly made circuitry that fails. It is rarely used, so this is unacceptable for something you might stake your life on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
