[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When we wanted to replace our countertop, we opted to replace our built-in cooktop at the same time. I loved our previous one (not a GE) and it had lasted over 20 years so I was hesitant, but the GE seemed like it had many of the same features that I loved in my previous cooktop.
I wanted a high BYU burner and an easy-to-clean surface... and of course it needed to look great! I was pleased the minute it was installed as it looks terrific! But more importantly, it performs: the high BTU burner is great and the smaller simmer burners are more precise than my previous unit. And it's so easy to clean! I love the way it shines.
All in all, I'm very pleased with this unit: both from a performance and aesthetic standpoint!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great - But . . . tough to keep clean

It heats great and it's wonderful that the grates are all at the same height when moving pots or skillets around and we love the white glass surface versus a stainless steel top that a friend of ours has, which has become scratched and is easily scratched by the metal grates, no matter how careful he is, he just keeps getting more tiny scratches when removing the grates for cleaning and we don't have any with our glass surface, but . . . accidental dropping of cooked on food are hard to clean off of the glass, which was a complete surprise, even with your recommended cleaner and it's even worse for the grates for some reason, unless all grates are a problem with today's manufacturing process, although we never had that problem before. I'm not sure, but I think these grates are baked enamel over cast iron, which I thought would be breeze to wipe off and keep clean, and they aren't because It takes lots of elbow grease to remove baked on black junk.

A great buy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love having 5 burners and boy are they powerful. I noticed it cut down on cooking time right away compared to my previous cooktop. I can't comment on the quality of the cooktop until I've had it for a while. At first I was concerned that having two simmers would cut down on my flexibility but I've found that it is very handy to have that feature. I wasn't aware that you could order the grates in glossy black. I think I would have opted for that instead of the rough black. The only annoying thing is that the burner caps come off easily when I'm trying to clean around it. My previous cooktop had burner caps that were heavier. And these fit only a certain way so there is a lot of fiddling.

Hard to clean

The stove top is really hard to clean. It has streaks and smears all over the top. The nobs are hard to pull off so it's nearly impossible to clean under them. The burners work great, however I would not purchase this stove again.
