This cooktop is the one you want:
1. If you want to use all of your existing pots and pans,
2. If you do home canning and candy making.
3. If you don't need to worry about any type of spill on the surface unlike the glass tops.
4. If you want burners with the highest wattages.
5. If you want a unit that is easy to change out burners (do your own maintenance).
6. If you want a unit that is truly functional.
7. If you want a unit that does not cost an arm and a leg.

If you want a show piece with lower wattages, requires specific pots and pans, requires specific cautions on spills, needs a serviceman for maintenance, and you may break the bank to buy it, then go for one of the units that are really great on looks!

Very easy to clean and maintain

I needed to replace an existing cooktop that had been in the house since 1960, the GE 36 '' fit perfectly into the opening and looks fantastic. The surface is very easy to clean, and maintain. I am very happy with this product.

Bought to replace the one I had for 37 years. Only wish that GE would keep sizes consistent so as not to have to do remodel to install. Also, not as elegant looking as the one replaced. Love GE products for their performance.

Heating elements not level on top

Just had this cooktop installed on 8/30/16, noticed that portions of the small calrod heating elements are somewhat warped, that is, not flat and level on the top surface, resulting in cookware slightly tilted when set on the element.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I wonder why this is no longer made???? I've had one for many years and still works perfectly! I think you would be money ahead and more customer friendly to keep making this type of cooktop
