Installed 2 days ago. Relatively light and easy to install (since my cutout was right). Burners work great and easy to clean. Wish one of the burners was extra large.
Good heating performance but the top needs to be made of thicker material or have a internal support, as it bows downward slightly with a full cook top load. Then the pots or pans are not quite level.
I bought this stove top in black , installed it myself. Love It , heats up fast , stays hot . I noticed I have to turn the temperature down , because the burners stay hot longer then my old one . I chose GE because of the great reputation they have. Great choice !!
Replaced a 30 yr old original cooktop, looks really good and does a good job. Two small issues, we had to upgrade the electrical branch to 40 amp, and cleaning the burner pans requires a slightly different technique to remove and replace. There's a label originally explaining that, but then we had a cleaning service come in and they didn't know. Sort of bent the connectors underneath. The black finish is gorgeous, but very hard to keep shiny clean.
This range top works well in our kitchen. It is about 8 or so months old and so far no problems. It is stainless steel but it does stain. All stainless products stain but they do clean up with a little effort.
My previous GE cooktop lasted a long time, but it was time to replace it. The new cooktop has the temp switches in the lower middle of the unit. This was an improvement over the older model because I could use more burners at the same time without crowding the pots, even with extra large pots or pans. The drip pans are heavier than the previous one - nice feature. Overall, I am pleased with my new cooktop. The only feature that I do not care for is the brushed Stainless steel surface. It is not shinny and smooth like the older model. It is NOT easy to clean. The brushed SS surface collects the grease and dirt more readily and is problematic to keep clean! It also streaks even when you think it is really clean. I haven't found a good cleaner for this type of surface! Note to the GE design engineers - Next time - please keep the surface a nice, shinny SS surface for ease of cleaning - very, very important to the consumer!
