Seems to work okay, and it matches my other appliances well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The design of the cooktop is beautiful -- but the arrangement of the buttons makes it impossible to find a place to put cookie sheets coming out of the oven. Also, the rings and wells are very hard to clean.
Our home is mid century modern (stuck in 1968) and a newer model wouldve looked out of place. Besides- I cook with cast iron and ceramic cooktops would break. This old fashioned coul cooktop looks great and works perfectly distributing heat through the couls. Very satisfied!
We recently replaced our old GE cooktop with a new version of the same cooktop. One problem with the old cooktop was that the metal surface got too hot to touch when a burner was on a higher setting. The upgrade has the same problem but does have a better indicator light showing that the burner is on. Otherwise, it seem to be the same cooktop. We wanted to same model cooktop so it would fit into the granite countertop without any modifications.
The controls for the burners on the right side are reversed. The higher watt burner won't boil water and the lower watt burner is glowing at around 4 1/2 or 5 on the dial.
