I've had this TV for a couple years now and have moved 2500 miles over mountains and dusty plains and it just keep going ...and going... and going... I've never had a problem with this television/ monitor since I've had it. If you want booming large sounds or have an ear that really appreciates sound then add a sound system but for normal viewing it isn't a necessity. The apps (applications) are what they are and so far haven't been upgraded and they might never be upgraded, no browser either, deal with it! Some of the apps have their own buttons on the remote and a few can be programed (4). The Wi-fi MediaConnect drops the signal for me when I stream movies from my computer on occasion but you can adjust the network load in the options, sometimes it helps ...sometimes it doesn't...oh well... Connected to my wifi with no problems at all, when they made this TV they did a pretty good job. I suppose it is the luck of the draw whether or not you get a great TV set or a lemon depends on a lot of things that are out of your control...it's called fate! Live it , love it!! Anyway I love the TV, buy it!!
Pros: it's all pro!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've had this TV for just over a year. And it's a decent TV don't get me wrong. It has a built in Netflix and YouTube app on its nettv feature HOWEVER, for some reason YouTube no longer works. And I understand Phillips blames them for it but frankly I didn't give my money to Google, I gave it to Phillips. Further more, when the YouTube app did work I was able to connect to my mobile device but not the YouTube application, I had to go to the websites pair feature and connect through that because the Bluetooth connectivity on this thing is clearly garbage. Basically the biggest selling feature for this TV is its "smart" capabilities, which frankly are obsolete and and were hardly useful in the first place.
Pros: great picture
Cons: as far as smart tvs go this tv is garbage.

Great TV for 3 years

Bought this, worked fantastic for 3 years (except for the optical out) and then promptly died one day without notice. I didn't expect it to last forever but 3 years is unacceptably low life span. Lots of inputs, great colour and performance.

Do not buy if in North America

Although Philips sells TV's "smart" in the USA, and Canada they do NOT support them. There is no Browser there is no support to speak of for North America. Although there TV's pictures are superior to all the Chinese manufacturers there is no support. I wish i would have known this before i purchased my TV from PHILIPS. When i say support i mean no software updates not very many apps cannot connect to my personal server in my house to stream vids etc...
They use Media Connect which has so much lag it is un-useable
I would have thought that the Dutch would treat the Canadians better very disappointed.
Pros: great pic and sound
Cons: media connect is useless, no browser, no s/w updates
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
