Poor features and venting

We bought this in January as part of a kitchen remodel; I really wanted an over-the-range micro/convection combo that vented outside, and took a chance on this one. I've been very disappointed.First, the lack of "one-touch" quick cook for 1-6 minutes, which I thought I wouldn't miss after I got used to it, turns out that the rest of the disappointing features just amplify that lack of convenience.Second- this microwave does not vent the steam that builds up inside the unit during cooking, so when you open the door, steam billows out, and the entire inside of the microwave is covered in moisture, requiring you to wipe it out completely every time.Third, the preprogrammed options for cooking and reheating, and the order they scroll through, are silly. Under "cook", one of the first options is french toast. Seriously? I don't know anyone who cooks french toast in a microwave. Frozen vegetables, one of the most common things to cook in a microwave, doesn't scroll by until the 5th option. The convection options, one of the key reasons I bought this, are also relatively useless. I wanted to use the convection feature to minimize "microwaving" as much as possible, but the things I want to cook are not listed. Specifically, squash, like acorn or butternut. When it finishes cooking, instead of going back to clock, the display asks you to entire more time, and doesn't go back to clock until you press "cancel". If you do nothing, it continues to "ask" you to enter more time, and more than an hour passes before it will at last return the clock display. During the "add more time" display, even the ONE quick cook option, 30 seconds, no longer works as a one-touch option. I have been through all the setup options, and there is no way to have it automatically return to clock after cooking. But the first two are the biggest disappointments, and I wonder how long until the insides deteriorate or rust from all the moisture accumulation. That last one, in my mind, is a serious design flaw, and now I'm stuck with it. Along with all the other annoyances and inconveniences.

VERY DISAPPOINTED... COMPLETELY RUSTY

I bought this EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE appliance on August 2012, and after a month, it was completely RUSTY inside, around the fan. The technician had to come twice to get the approval to replace it. I thought Whirlpool was a good brand, and the GOLD SERIES its top of the line, but I am very disappointed now... I am having worse issues with my refrigerators... GOLD SERIES as well.

I purchased this unit when my old microwave became irreparable. We decided that if we were going to update, we wanted to have greater functionality for our small kitchen, so we began shopping for a convection/microwave combo. We chose this unit because it was a low price, and had a white finish. It was really easy to install (I used the existing holes drilled to hang the original microwave), and I must say I am really impressed with the convection baking capacity. The microwave itself is high enough power to be really useful as well. The only complaint I have it the auto cooling fan, which sometimes turns on when I am not using the oven itself (sometimes the sensor responds to heat on the cook top and thinks it needs to cool the oven. Since we have a small kitchen, the auto-cooling fan can be really noisy, so this is more of a nuisance than a problem with the unit. All in all, I would gladly recommend this oven/microwave combo to friends.

Stylish Workhorse, a Definite Upgrade

This microwave has enhanced my ability to cook a family dinner. You can steam rice and vegetables in just a few minutes. I used convection to cook a skirt steak in half the time it would take to grill - it came out perfect (I really only pushed two buttons for that). Reheating casseroles provides just the right amount of reheat, so you aren't serving a blob of rubber to your family. I also like the four fan speeds - when on low, it's much quieter than my previous oven. All in all, I recommend this oven. It's versatile, well laid out, and so far does everything well.

Convection oven is difficult to use.

There was no instruction manual or recipe book given with the microwaveto show how to use the convection oven. The sheet enclosed is impossible to understand as it is general. I wanted a convection oven because I did not want to have to use the large oven on the range for baking a loaf of bread or small casserole. I would definitely not recommend this microwave.

Power is good, convection oven feature saves energy, and it'

It works very well and is easy to keep clean. The microwave feature is more powerful than my old microwave so I had to shorten some times. I like it otherwise. I like the combination of the convection oven with the microwave because that can serve as a second oven and can use less energy than heating our larger oven. However, I wish it had come with instructions for cooking with the convection oven.
