I just purchased the MG 5420 printer and ID badge J-tray for the Mt Hood Miata Club. They will be used primarily to print Membership ID Badges. I had a backlog of 96 badges to be printed. The quality and ease of printing far exceeded my expectations.

A good buy if you don't want wi-fi

I have Not been able to connect this unit to my Wi-Fi set-up no matter what I or my Tech Support Team do. This is the second MG 5420 that I've tried to connect to my Wi-Fi as I took the first on back to the store & still I can Not get it to connect. I may end up taking this one back to the store & buy something else instead.
Other than that it's a great machine with no problems printing, scanning or copying. So if you don't care about Wi-Fi I strongly recommend it.
Pros: reliable, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Difficult Setup, poor wi-fi connection & setup, ink is expensive

I love this printer works awesome with my wi FI. No problems at all I would buy again in a heatbeat..
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use

Excellent Canon quality, but...

Right out of the box the scanner started making this awful clicking noise. After restarting it worked fine. It has repeated the same clicking, like the gears would not mesh on the scanner, numerous times since. Must turn off / on in order to make a scan.
The inks cartridges are black so it is impossible to tell how much ink is left after the printer indicates one is empty. Usually there is plenty left. Canon wants you to buy more ink.
The print quality is great as with every canon printer I have owned. This printer is exception to having an excellent printer made by canon and first I have used with a built in scanner, which I like having on board.

Totally Awesome wireless capabilities. Now my Mom don't have to take her laptop across the room and hook it up via USB.

Great Prints

This MG5540 ran great for years. So many great photos printed. It no longer prints. tried a few things. I even used aftermarket ink tanks. it wont pass ink thru it. I never tried support. A great printer, and I would buy another if found new in the box.
