SO VERY SLOW, CAN NOT DOWNLOAD USER MANUEL.
OK it's cheaper for Canon not to print a user manual but for the consumer it's a nightmare.,
Will never buy another Canon printer, EVER

Basically I like this printer

I have had it for 7 years and a short time ago the printing became erratic. I asked for help and got: Instructions to clean the roller and how to. I did and it is now printing again like it did before.
The pages print fast both one-sided and two-sided.
This is a very complex machine as it does so much. I found out that you MUST read the manual which comes with Image Garden software. Right now I am researching how to shut off the WI-Fi light. But so far it is still printing.

Not a bad printer for the price

I bought this printer about 2 years ago and I have been satisfied with it. I was really surprised to see all of the bad reviews, it really is a nice printer. I use it for printing photos, scanning in documents. We have even had success recently printing out something from my son's phone, honestly we didn't think it would actually work, but it did! I did have a little trouble setting it up at first, but once all that was straightened out, it works without hesitation.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I actually received this printer for free from the purchase of a laptop. I am glad I chose this because I have been using it for over 2 years now with little or no issues whatsoever. Never had a paper jam. Only had a problem for a day with wireless connection otherwise it has worked flawlessly. There are 2 minor complaints I have: 1) Printer sometimes takes quite awhile to start printing; 2) The ink usage seems to be a bit high. Some, if not most, of the issues I see others complain about can be solved by just reading the manual. Some of the setup options are buried inside the printer menu. After 2 years of pretty much flawless home use I DO recommend this printer. Price to performance is pretty much spot on. If you need better performance I suggest you go by the old saying...."You get what you pay for!".

Bought for Two Features - Only One Works
on March 3, 2014

I bought this for wireless printing and direct inkjet printing onto printable DVDs. My system is a 3.06 GHz Intel iMac with 10.6.8; an iPad, iPad Mini, and iPhone 5.
Set-up for wireless printing took about 3 minutes for the printer to do its own set-up, and then I pushed the WPS button on my modem/router, at which point all devices were connected. Wireless printing from all 3 devices is great, Picture quality on Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II (3 sheets included) is outstanding.
The second reason I bought this was for direct inkjet printing onto printable DVDs. This is totally unsatisfactory! First, one must use Canon software (My Image Garden) to print. This program is designed for would-be artists, and is set up to require images (scanned in pictures, and other such stuff). I do not want any pictures on the DVDs. My purpose is to label DVDs for archival storage, with text identifying what is on the DVD. The best this Image Garden will provide is three boxes on the lower half of a DVD giving a grand total of 175 characters of Times New Roman, 12 pitch data. I am a lawyer, this was going to be used to identify dozens of case titles from litigated cases I have handled. 750 MB of space on a DVD would give me space for about 100 .pdf formatted of the typical cases I want to store. This limitation to 175 characters makes this "feature" useless to me. There is no way I can possibly identify 5% of what is on the DVD. I can't even say good morning to a Judge in court and identify myself in 175 characters!
At this point I am researching the options with Canon to see if I can enter more data, as well as researching other printer companies' printers to see if I can find one that will work for me.
No I would not buy this again. No I would have not carried it into my house if it had been a gift from Canon.

I have had this multifunction printer/scanner, etc. for over a month and have not been able to get the scanner to function yet. I have spent a lot of time researching and have not been able to find out what the problem is. The manual is not helpful and I haven't found any help on line yet.
I bought this one to replace another Canon which I had several years and liked.
I wish I could give this one back.
Pros: Lightweight/Portable, fast print speed
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor Quality, Drinks Ink
on May 26, 2014

I purchased this printer simply for proofing. The box said it's quality was very high and that it didn't consume much ink. That is not correct at all. I have used it 4 times and it has run out of ink already. That is 4 proofs, 3 were 1 page proofs. The other was a black and white document that was 52 pages front and back.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Heavy/Bulky, Dull Tones & Colors, High Ink Consumption, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
