Hard to use

The instructions refer to letters that mean something I am not familiar with making it hard to understand. I need the steps to simply scan a photo or document. I feel I am being forced into using the Canon Garden etc which adds something I don't want. I want to scan something at a particular setting and have it saved in a folder of my choice on my hard drive. I would like to print a photo by, ctrl-p and select what I want, size, gray-scale, and whatever.

Insanely Slow

If you every plan on printing something before running out the door, this isn't the printer for you. Before it will even acknowledge that you are attempting to print something, it spends 5-10 minutes warming up, which seems unnecessary, as once it realizes you do in fact want it to do it's job it takes another 5-10 minutes "preparing" before it finally spits out whatever you were trying to print. And after all that it still takes a few prints before it stops putting lines in things. After all that it works great, but if it's made you miss your bus that doesn't really matter anymore since now your assignment is late.
Cons: Slow Print Speed, High Ink Consumption, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Setup was easy, follow the directions. I am running Win 7 x64 ver. "You don't even need the setup CD to setup the drivers or wireless, Windows does all the work for you. Step 1, at the printer, connect to the Router. Step 2, Go to Computer and connect to printer in Add Printer section, select new printer and bam! Windows loads all the drivers and sets up everything for you.
Simple.
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent purchase

This printer is a replacement for me of an old (15-20 years old?) MP830 printer. The improvements are spectacular! Thoroughly enjoying the wifi connection. And so many "goodies." Even I, not being an electronically inclined individual, could figure out the set up and how to use it. Thanks once again, Canon. I am a fan.

After using this printer for about four months, I have no complaints. It is easy to set up, has not had a paper jam, prints clearly and the ink cartridges are easy to change. This printer does everything I need for my home office needs.

Worst printer I have ever owned

The colour is totally off and never matches my screen. The software for scanning is extremely slow and saves my scans into obscure places on the computer. The tray is so small the documents fall onto the ground when printed. I never would have bought the b*****d, but this is what happens when you let your husband make these decisions. I am going to invest in a higher quality laser printer I think.

Slow, loud, wifi stupid

I know how to set up devices on my computers, but this has so far been my most frustrating and unrewarding of an experience as I have ever had. We bought this product because it has wireless capabilities, but sadly the Wifi just does not work consistently enough to justify keeping it. I should not have to consult online help or message blogs just to keep this printer working. Judging by the reviews, I am not alone in this frustration. Like many others, I also found that the extensive amount of time the printer spends whirring and clunking just to print a simple document or photo is something I would have expected in the 80's or 90's, not the 2010's. Of all the printers I have used in my lifetime, I would easily rate it as one of the worst.
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed, Heavy/Bulky, Difficult Setup, unreliable, Flimsy Construction
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

worst printer ever

Very disappointed in the slow startup of printing or copying. We had a previous canon printer that we still use works great, it's only drawback was no on/off button. Poor design of a tray that flips out and seems very flimsy. Noisy, seems to run forever and then finally it prints or copies.
Cons: Difficult to use, slow start up
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
