Only lasted a little over a year

This dryer worked okay for about a year. Shortly thereafter it took 3 to 4 hours to dry any load of clothes. Since it was no longer under warranty, we had to pay to have someone come out and fix it. He replaced the thermostat and other parts and it still doesn't work properly. I thought GE would last longer than a year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
