Easily modified for silent cubicle use
on February 20, 2016

I've been looking for a wireless silent visual doorbell for my cubicle for months. I tried this as it was relatively inexpensive at Fry's. There are two volume settings, soft and loud -- but a few minutes with a screwdriver fixed it for my use case.

My Swann doorbell has been installed for about 9 months and the system works well and the batteries last quite well, I have only replaced the batteries in the inside unit a week ago. My 3 stars is because of the cheap build quality of the external unit, the cover plate, which incorporates the press button, is held on by 1 tiny plastic lug top and bottom, the postie pressed the button a few days ago and the cover plate fell off, because the top lug has broken off. I expected the unit to last longer than 9 months..

Easy to use, but a couple of issues

Got this for Christmas, and while setting it up was simple enough there have been two main problems: 1 - The sound files on the device are low quality; the tunes clip no matter what tune or volume you choose, so it's not the speaker that's bad, they've just given it poor quality music files for some reason. Not quite "music to your ears". 2 - Our receiver randomly goes off with different tunes once or twice a day. This doesn't seem to be interference or another transmitter close by, as it plays a different tune each time, despite the choosing being done on the receive itself. This can occur anything from the middle of the day, to at 3AM in the morning. Because it's a different tune, you can tell nobody is at the door, but it is still quite annoying.

Bought this door bell 2 years ago its used more batteries than it's worth and that's when it works. The door push it's self cracked after 9 months so held on by gaffer tape with no real use at all, had to change the battery again today and its now fell into lots of pieces. The chime part seems to make quality batteries leak and coroad the springs. Sorry Swann but its not up to the job RUBBISH
