Disappointment
on November 1, 2019
Posted by: Quincyxxx
Webroot's protective services are first rate, but when I purchased this program it was primarily for the VPN function. There seemed to be an assurance that using VPN would not diminish wi-fi band width. That is not the case. I suffer a serious loss of band width and have stopped using the VPN. By the way the VPN function on my browser works just fine and has no negative impact. I am sorry i spent the money.

Webroot, So Fast You Won't Even Know It's There

Webroot takes up little space in your active memory and works very fast. It is virtually non-intrusive. I was already using LastPass and now I get the pro version included in my Webroot subscription! A password manager is an important tool for internet security. I'm happy I switched to Webroot.

We pride ourselves in being a very lightweight and efficient antivirus solution! Thanks for writing a review!
I just renewed my subscription and downloaded it directly to laptop. It is a work laptop but since independent from network must keep security updated. This was easy to use and is a great product. Not sure why they still sent me the disc but hanging on to it just in case.

Glad you've had an easy time using and updating Webroot! Thanks for choosing us - we appreciate the review!
Webroot does a great job without you noticing it running unless it notifies you of a problem. While I have noticed other programs hogging resources and slowing my computer down, that has never been a problem with Webroot.

Glad to hear you're having a solid experience using Webroot! Thanks for the review.
I have been using Webroot Secure Anywhere for about 10 years, with no problems whatsoever and no malware problems.

I really don't know ... ??
on April 8, 2020

It's impossible to tell whether this product is any good or not. It tells me nothing useful about what it's doing. I was cleaning up some old files from my NAS the other day. When I moved some of them to the PC I was using, Webroot popped a box with a red border and said it had found something nasty and wanted my permission to take care of it. It told me nothing about what file(s) were the problem nor what it was actually doing (quarantining? removing? ??). I gave it permission but I have no idea what Webroot thought the problem was nor what it did.
For all I know it just saw something old and outside its knowledge so it took a better-be-safe-than-sorry approach. Who knows...
When you pop up the Webroot window from the notification area of the task bar there is a button to "See the Report". Again, useless. It tells me it has dealt with 13 malicious activities across the 3 devices I have registered. But it says nothing about which devices had how many of those activities - all on one of them? equally across the 3 of them? And what were those "malicious activities"? Anything significant? What was the source of them? Is there something I should do to change my behaviour to avoid them in future? Again, no useful information.
When I log in I can check a list of my registered devices. Here I discover that one of the devices has had 4 threats dealt with and none on the other two. ??? What happened to the other 9 that the security report stated (total of 13 on all devices)?
2 stars is the very best I can do at this point because I have no clue what Webroot is doing on my computers. The 2 stars are related only to how easy it is to set up and manage. I can't rate it any higher because I don't know what it's doing.
Give me some decent informative reporting and perhaps it can go up to 4 or 5 stars. In the mean time I'm planning to look for another product that combines serious protection AND keeps me informed of exactly what it's doing, Or just go back to the built in Windows Security. It has started to get really good test ratings in the past few months.
