Too much Samsung

A nice large and very clear screen with a great overall design, but there are way too many Samsung modifications to the android operating system. Unless you are a power user who wants to stream lots of videos or do Office type work, I suggest one of Samsung's less expensive tablets might be a better value for you.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, doesn't use native android 4.4
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nice sleek tablet with a fast processor and excellent AMOLED display... However, this tablet was made poorly and has a trim falling apart in 2 days of use.
Am extremely pleased with the performance of this tablet. Speed at which apps display and function are fantastic. Don't know of another tablet with this much ability.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

General: ChromeCast crashes. Multi user: Messenger and Skype crashes, WIFI issues

The general problems occurs while streaming videos on ChromeCast. It simply crashes the process bar, when sliding it down while casting a video to the TV. It crashes it such a way, that the only option is to restart the device. I am a super user of Android, and have cleared the cache, reinstalled etc etc. Nothing ...
Multiuser troubles on second user with two apps especially: Messenger (facebook), and Skype app keeps crashing even when you are not using them, The only option is to choose: "OK" or Confirm (and send a report - which I already did). It keeps crashing 10 times in a row for both apps.
The other trouble is, that once user 1 i logged on, user 2 has troubles connecting to the WIFI.
I am pretty disappointed with this device - way to many errors that needs to be fixed and tested before the release. I do not now who your beta-testers are, but they are not doing a very good job. As an app-designer for both iOS and Android, I consider myself to be a super user of apps and synchronizing devices - and these errors should have been corrected.
Things to test and correct: 1: Process bar slide-down - crashes device when casting to TV with ChromeCast, 2: facebook Messenger keeps crashing - no way to avoid this. 3: Skype keeps crashing - no way to avoid this. 4: Many WIFI-issues on (ONLY MULTI-USER 2) keeps disconnecting/and or can not connect.
I am disappointed with this device merely because I bought this device instead of a laptop because of the multi-user option.

Nice hardware, poor software

I bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 mainly due to the very impressive screen. The screen has very high resolution and is the best screen I've ever seen. I wanted the extra crispness since I have trouble seeing small text.
Unfortunately, almost none of the software is well optimized for the screen size. Most software on the Tab S 8.4 has microscopic icons somewhere in their control interfaces which are no larger than the corresponding icons on a small screen smartphone, which defeats the purpose of the larger screen size if you have big fingers.
There seems to be no way to increase the fontsize in any of the Google apps, including search boxes and Gmail. You can increase the system font size for the tablet, but that has no effect on the text size of the content of an email message in Gmail or search boxes. Reading email with the Gmail app was actually more difficult on the Tab S 8.4 than on my smaller Samsung Galaxy S4 telephone.
I returned the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 to the store after two days. A few easy software fixes in the most important apps would completely solve the problem and turn the Tab S into a 5 star product. Unfortunately, right now for me the software deficiencies make the Tab S a frustration to use.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Realistic color, Lightweight, screen resolution, kindle app works well
Cons: Did not meet expectations, poor software, google apps are poor on this tablet

battery life limited
on June 29, 2014

I have had my tablet for less than 3 months. I thought that the battery was doing really well, then realized more apps were open and we're draining it rather quickly (3-5hrs). After I learned how to close the apps, the battery still only lasts at most 5 hours. I don't watch videos, but I have about 3 Zegna and King games I play once in a while. After charging all night, and turning on the tablet for 5 minutes, it has already gone from 100% to 96%. No other apps are running except incoming notification. As for overall performace, I couldn't ask for more. I just wish I knew more about all the other stuff on this thing.
