The Galaxy Tab is the greatest tab. Slim, light, easy to use, fast, everything you could ask for.

The Screen Isn't That Great - Very Disappointed

I paid the premium for this tablet to get 2 things. The larger size screen and the bright, beautiful screen that had all the reviewers gushing over it.
Well, the screen is big and bright, all right. So that part is nice. What it is NOT is uniform. Even when looking straight on, you can see color shifts on a uniform background
I use this tablet a lot for reading ebooks. The "page" is greenish on one side, pinkish on the other. And if you are looking at it from even a slight angle, it quickly gets worse - which is to say that as you are reading and perhaps making small adjustments in the way you hold the tablet, the color changes. Sure, the color changes are small. But they are noticeable. And very irritating.
This is not the performance I expected to get when I paid EXTRA for this model.
I have not seen this degree of color shifting in any tablet for many years (before IPS screens).
In other respects this is a lovely tablet. The shape and construction are pleasing. Performance is good, but doesn't blow you away. The cameras are adequate - not as good as I expected at this price point, but adequate. The speakers are tinny. Yes, they're small, so what do I expect, but they aren't as good as those in some other tablets for lower cost.
If you don't read ebooks on it or aren't bothered by uneven screen color, then I would recommend this tablet for its other virtues. But if you do a lot of reading, I really can't recommend it. If I had gotten it locally, I probably would have returned it.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, good feel, slim bezels, thin (depth)
Cons: Did not meet expectations, uneven screen color - huge disappointment, not a good screen for reading ebooks
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love my Tablet

This is the second Samsung tablet I have gotten - Love them both but my 8 inch is awesome. It's quick and works awesome. I also have the 7 inch tablet and while it is slower than my 8 inch I use it when I read at night in bed. I love them both. I also have a Samsung S5 phone and it's is excellent also. Wouldn't trade any of them

Excellent Tablet

I bought the Galaxy Tab S after cracking the screen on my Kindle Fire HDX, which I wasn't unhappy to break. I considered the newer Tab 4, but was turned off by the screen size. The Tab S is perfect. Not too big (iPad), not too small (Kindle). Very light, very thin, easy to use and type on. While I like my wife's iPad, it just feels too restrictive. The Android OS has great features (I love the widgets I can put on my homescreen), and the layout and design overall feels intuitive and smooth. Some apps, like Crossy Road) lag at times, but none of the others I've installed have had the same issues. I suspect it has more to do with app design than the tablet itself. I have no complaints so far. This tablet is great.

I considered both the Tab S and Pro vs an iPad. The Tab S is a better value and performs as well as or better than my wife's iPad. The Remote PC app is a tool and enables me to work offsite without carrying my laptop.

This tablet is absolutely amazing! It performs great and has plenty power. The GPS works great for my Forest Service work and the apps perform great for school work.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color, Bright display, Built-in speakers, Durable, Lightweight, fast
Cons: third party application access to micro sd
