Worst washing machine that I have ever owned.

This washing machine does not get our clothes clean and does not rinse at all. My husband has a rash all over him from the clothes not getting enough water to rinse. I have to wash all clothes on the bedding cycle to get any water.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor appliance

Purchased this washer along with dryer on 12/24/2017. The washer quit working on 6/6/2019. It took 4 and 1/2 weeks to get repaired. Had to replace the control panel. This was completed on July 9th 2019. Today is August 31 2019 and it will not come on. Doing the same as before. Absolutely unhappy with this purchase.

OMG, it was a LEMON. A negative STAR.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Yes, a LEMON. If I could go negative stars, I would. The FIRST UNIT started making very loud screeching noises with only a set of king size sheets and four pillow cases, the first time we used it. Then a couple good wash cycles with just clothes, no jeans or heavy fabrics. The first load of towels, well short of a full capacity wash and it self destructed with screeching like several fan belts slipping, amazing loud noise. Less then 30 days from purchase, had the store switch out the unit.
The SECOND UNIT, with just an average load of clothes, well short of full capacity, FIRST WASH LOAD, didn’t get more them five minutes into the wash cycle before the screeching started, getting louder with every agitation. We called the store again for help, they said let us hear the noise, we took it off “pause”, they listened and were amazed. The store asked us to stop in and pick out another washer and they would swap it out again and refund the difference. We chose another brand of washer.
Our last Maytag, old school agitator style, lasted ten years and three household moves, from NY to Tn. We thought it was a winner.

great washer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just got this about two weeks ago,as my old unit (17yrs.) was dying a slow,painful death..lol. I mainly got it for it's capacity, was tired of going to the laundromat to wash bedding, so far has not let me down. It's a great machine, but,if you DON'T read the instructions on washing,loading,amount of detergent to use, you have NO basis to write a derogatory review. This machine works exactly as intended... if you follow instructions.. if not, then it's your problem, not Maytag... I was shocked at the amount of water it uses... I actually stood and watched this thing go thru cycles (retired...nothing better to do) ,for the first couple of washes, and the clothes came out clean,no soapy residue,and almost dry after the spin cycle. So for all you people giving 1-3 stars, maybe you should just sit down,have a coffee,or whatever,and READ the manual... you just might learn how to operate a space-age washer...and they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks...BTW I'm 72...

Love it, except!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far I like most everything about this machine. Much quieter than my previous front loader, multiple cycle options are really nice. My biggest disappointments are 1) the white residue on my dark clothes and 2) fuller loads seem to twist everything into a knot. I’ve tried decreasing amount of (He) detergent but I’m having to rewash each dark load. I wish i had paid attention to other reviews.
Not sure why clothes get tangled, it doesn’t happen every time.
Currently deciding whether to return washer to Lowe’s while I still can. I would love to find an answer for the residue (if there is one). VERY frustrating!

Hate the new agitation

We bought the new washer/dryer set and are extremely pleased with the dryer but the washer with the new agitation system with little to no water is horrendous. I guess if you want to purchase new clothes every week, it’s wonderful. But, if you’re doing that then you wouldn’t need a washer. It tears up everything we put in. We have tried every setting and combination to try and make this work, to no avail. Happily, we still had our old set, so moved the old Maytag Performa back in.
