Have to pay to file state return

Bought the Deluxe Fed and state software. Read in the help files that the software would file the fed and state return. When I tried to efile the state return I was told I would have to pay extra. Not very up front with that info.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used H&R Block software for the past 10 years, I am 93 years old and find it simple just to fill in the blanks since last years data is downloaded

Very easy to complete Federal and State taxes

This was my ninth year of using this tax software program and it is very easy to understand what needs to be entered in the worksheets and forms!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

This year I waited a while to use the product and ran into issues. The online agent through Chat option was so helpful and patient!! I was able to get my return filed and THANK ADRIAN for all the help.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

HORRIBLE SOFTWARE

Horrible software! I been loyal user of HR Block for at least 10 years now. Uploading docs doesn't fully work. I got to the end only to get kicked back for 15 red flags to fill in blank fields. What should have taken 15 minutes took an hour. Times X2 I can't do the third one tomorrow, I guess. This is the last time I will ever purchase this once very good software,

Massachusetts State tax software is incorrect

A prefiling review of the Mass State return uncovered that my IRA distribution was wrong. It would not handle correctly the difference in Fed and State IRA tax basis incorrectly. To deal with the problem overrides were made. The overrides required me to mail the return because electronic filing was not available after the overrides. Also the handling of the 1099K was rather poor, the work around was to go back to the Federal return and redo my Hobby income and report it as schedule C business income. Someone that is less knowledgeable in tax preparation would have file an incorrect Ma state tax return.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
