Overall, easy to use. I would like more details or explanation of deductions and what you need to do itemized. Also an explanation of why I owe this year compared to last year.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: would like more explanations of deduction

Great Tax Filing Help

TurboTax is really a great helper for me to get my taxes done. I would not know how to do them without it. I am always especially impressed when it comes to the points where all of a sudden you have to know the sum of an accumulating number over the history of all your tax years, and voila - there it is! No digging through piles of old printouts or stored pdf files. The number you need is there and usually you get a good recommendation along with it and the related tax information at a click away. That is really the value of TurboTax!

Without major change in income, schedule c entries hard to discover and fill correctly (requiring re-entry at end w/ error correction).
Ability to look up a topic poor. Found answers on Google instead.

What's great about it: Easy to start and use for 80% of form entries

This is an excellent product I've been using for years, and I would recommend it to others. Still, there are some unfortunate things that pop up from time to time, particularly when the user is uncertain of what to enter, and has to undo an entry.
The case in point was on the MA part-year resident return; I lived part of the year in CT and thought I may need to get credit for income earned there. It turns out my W-2 already took care of it and segregated the MA income, so I could not take this credit. But the TurboTax workflow had me stuck in a loop where it expected me to continue to file this credit, and was demanding I enter the external state code. It took a while of re-doing to remove this form from the filing.
Another point for improvement is specific help on individual tax returns, which admittedly is difficult with so many states to deal with. One case was a question on the MA return with 'Non-MA portion of deductions'. I got online to ask a helpdesk person for assistance, but he could not help. I eventually had to figure it out myself by looking up MA DOR info online. The other point that was unfortunate was trying to e-file an IL return; it requires an IL-PIN, which apparently is only available if you have filed previously in IL. The TurboTax system did not make this clear to me. And trying to e-file Fed, MA, CT, but file IL by paper took a bit of figuring out.
What's great about it: Automatic use of previous years' returns, smooth calculations
What's not so great: Workflow doesn't handle changes well

Turbo Tax is Turbo Easy to File

This year's Turbo Tax Deluxe Edition was a breeze to use. The layout and prompts were easy to follow and understand. IT was so easy that I was shocked at how fast I was able to complete my tax return using the software product.
I have been using Turbo Tax since 2002 and will continue to one of its dedicated customers as it has made my life stress free during the the past tax seasons.
I highly recommend Turbo Tax as it makes preparing your tax returns a simple task and helps you avoid paying CPA fees.
What's great about it: Easy Prompts with Good Explanations
What's not so great: Can't think of any

2012 Tax Returns

I was a bit nervous using this software since my ex-husband was the one who'd do the taxes. This year I just bought the software with the hopes that it would be easy for me as well.
The section for filing Federal was pretty easy to understand. I did have some trouble with my state filing. I don't feel confident that it was done correctly. Maybe it was just too easy.
The application was very good from a user perspective. I did have to go back a few times and when I did get the information filled out, when I moved forward to the next tab the application seemed to "reset" at the start state. I would be nice if I moved back and forth between tabs, the application held my last location, instead of having me have to go through the tab again. Anyway, that was just a thought.
Because I had such a good experience. I will definitely be using TurboTax to complete my 2013 Taxes.
What's great about it: Very Intuitive, I felt guided and not overwhelmed
What's not so great: I know it might be cumbersome, but it would be nice if I don't have to scroll down as much to get to the other sections.
