Totally Turbo Tax

I have used Turbo Tax for several years. It is so easy to use and understand. The programs guides you through your tax preparation in a very user friendly way. I like the ability to get as much additional information as needed to fully understand what you are doing. You are guided through the process from start to finish. I have recommended Turbo Tax to many family members and friends.
What's great about it: So easy to use and understand.
What's not so great: Extra cost for additional State returns

Capital gain confusion

Figuring out my capital gain was confusing for me in turbo tax. Even though I only sold one investment - S&P 500 index - My 1099-R form was divided between short-term and long-term capital gains. I didn't realize I needed to add up the cost basis of my short and long term gains to get my total cost basis. This could be easier. I had turbo tax deluxe and the software asked me to upgrade to explain this section, but I think that the deluxe should include this explanation. Otherwise, I was satisfied and have been using turbo tax for a number of years.

Would definitely buy again. Checks for errors and lets you know your refund or amount you owe as you go along. Everybody I know who doesn't use a CPA uses Turbotax.
What's great about it: Quick; takes user step by step; questions are easy to understand; takes user by the hand
What's not so great: When mistake is made is too hard to reconcile printout with section of turbo tax to review
