Turbo Tax is the complete package with a known upfront cost to complete your returns. You have to organize your doc's regardless of who you choose to compete your returns (which can be the time consuming part), but once you have the doc's organized why not just use Turbo Tax and save some money and get your returned filed quickly with great support if required.
What's great about it: complete the fed. return and your state return is complete
What's not so great: filing out the K-1's
Pros: I bought or sold investments

the easy guide is great to make sure you are gertting all the deductions and convering all your bases.

I really appreciate the way TurboTax walks me through each section. I can quickly skip a section if none of the activity applies to me, but I like being taken through all the income & expense categories just to be sure. And the hyperlinked explanations & help files are great when I am not sure about an item.

Easy & Fast

TurboTax really helps, especially since I now own a house. It imports much of the information, including my info from last year, and compares this year's totals to last year. I choose (mostly) to be taken thru each section, rather than exploring, which is a little tedious but really worth it. I feel like I'm getting all the refund I should, and it's fairly easy. It seems to take awhile sometimes, but that might just be my computer. This is my 5th year using TurboTax, and I'll probably do it again next year.
What's great about it: takes me right thru everything, and imports info from last year so it can compare
What's not so great: not quite as fast as I'd like

2012 TurboTax

I like the way TurboTax transfers last year's information and the way it transfers to the state form. This really simplifies things. A lot of questions were asked that I would not have considered asking. There were a lot of details covered that I did not know about.
On the con side, I am retired and earned a little income last year doing odd jobs. I needed to report the income on the business form. I could have used a little more instructions on how to fill it out. I had to go to the IRS web site and look at the confusing instruction form.
Overall, I am not sure I could do without TurboTax each year. It would be too confusing otherwise.

What's great about it: Overall easy to use. Asked a lot of questions I would not have considered.
What's not so great: Needed a little more explanation for filling out the business form; first time using it and got a little confused.

Fun with Taxes?

Turbo tax is a quick and easy way to do the "chore" of filing taxes. You still have to have all your paperwork, but it's better than trying to fill out the individual forms yourself!!!
