Crashed but Recovered

This is a great program that I have used for years. I have always downloaded it to my computer and worked from there, but in future I may just go online and use it from their website. I would definitely recommend this program.
What's great about it: Easier to understand questions from previous years
What's not so great: It crashed on me and I had to re-install. First time that has happened in all the years I have been using this.

I have used turbo tax for years and I have always been satisfied. I have noticed over the years it has gotten even easier. I have gone from dreading doing my taxes to really have no stress at all about it. I don't worry, I know it is easy and fast, no worries.

I have used TT for more than 10 years. I am very confident that TT does a better job than other tax software or tax preparers.

Dependable every year!

Works great, especially when you use it for multiple years. We've been using it for over 10 years now. The auto fill feature is a real time saver. The prompts it gives you to "recall" your donations and deductions from previous years can really help you save! The review and audit checks at the end help give you that extra reassurance.
What's great about it: Detailed and comprehensive

easy not fast

Overall, Turbo Tax is excellent and user friendly. I've used it for years. Using it year after year helps keep a trail of data that automatically updates personal data and lists of charities imported painlessly from the previous year. My city also collects tax so really like the inclusion of city tax preparation along with my state tax at no extra charge. That was not available in the competition.
Despite many strengths the interview style can be tedious. It sometimes seems to require creating lists and worksheets that are not needed by the IRS and I already have that information on other documents and summaries created outside of the program. For example, when doing long lists of charities, it requires entering the dates and amounts for each charity for which you have a receipt. However, if I already have the receipt(s), why should I have to enter all the individual dates and amounts for each charity when that is already on the receipt(s). Too much retyping of redundant information is required.
Suggestions for future additions of Turbo Tax charitable contributions: 1. If user already has a written list of charities that serves the purpose of the charity worksheet. allow entire categories to be entered as a total if the user already has a separate record. Just add a box saying "I already have a complete record of my individual charitable contributions" Then just ask for totals in the various categories of cash, property etc.. 2. For each specific charity listed and carried over from previous year, add a check box saying "no contribution this year" so that it will be ignored but not removed from the list, since it may be needed the following year. 3. When adding a new charity, the name should be sufficient while the address should be optional, since it is probably on the receipt.
What's great about it: Easy & thorough interface--easy to go back and change things
What's not so great: entering all data for charities too tedious- & redundant
