Turbo fast , Turbo easy
on April 6, 2013

Easy to get started. Simple, pick either guide or pick forms.
I was able to get the list of income and deduction topics and click 'start' or 'update' and enter what I wanted.
The only headache was the confusing part on when to print. it should be clearer that you should wait until you finish filing before you want to print. The other screens only let you preview and no print option was available. It only wasted time to figure out.
What's great about it: Pick income and deduction topics you need quickly
What's not so great: Printing options at end was confusing to me. Just say, " wait until you finish filing" first.

quick and easy, prepared with confidence

Previously prepared myself. Have used Turbo tax the past couple years now. It's straightforward, easy to use. No time spent looking up rules and requirements for deductions, filling out worksheets, etc. When complete, left me confident I didn't miss anything or make any errors and that I got the maximum refund. Downloading online is very helpful, too. I have no plans to use anything else!
What's great about it: user-friendly, saves time
What's not so great: lots of updates, caught a couple mistakes at the end

Makes life easier

1) on a small screen, need extra steps to scroll to bottom of page
2) had to edit one entry on one form, took a while to figure out how to do it (using the "error correct" button
3) if intuit wants me to come back next year (as I always do), they should say that they'll import this years info.
4) or they should say: "we'll import your information from this return for your next return so you may want to organize your (for example) deductions alphabetically as you go along rather than by date in your files during the year.
**I switched from on-line to download. THE HELP FROM THE SUPPORT STAFF WAS GREAT! DIDN'T HAVE TO REENTER ANYTHING. THANKS
What's great about it: Easy step keeps you focused
What's not so great: minor annoyances only

This was the first time I did my taxes alone. I chose Turbo Tax. It was great to have it walk me thru where all the information needed was to be found. I feel secure in my filing and will use it again next year.
Thanks TurboTax
Pros: I moved, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Excellent product, easy to use even for a student without lots of income or deductions, make me feel like all options were explored to get my best refund
What's great about it: easy to follow
What's not so great: getting told education credits weren't eligible because I am someone else's dependent at the end not the beginning
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used TurboTax since 1998 and the program has become more difficult to use vs. easier. After two successive years of problems I'm to a point that I will be looking for another method of filing my tax returns.

Worked well on Fed & State (IL)
on April 6, 2013
Posted by: SteveVegas
Did a great job on 2012 Fed (2 returns) and State (IL - even for non-resident) in guiding through numerous required entries. Somewhat difficult to return mid-process to "Guide-Me" steps -- couldn't readily figure out how to display sub-steps of entire Guide-Me process to add or check on original entries.
What's great about it: Comprehensive, easy-to-understand questions. Help available when filling forms or during each step of entry process.
What's not so great: Problem entering self-select date; kept indicating invalid date entry, then accepted after several "continue" entires.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Really Good But ...

Yes I know that I can print it out before final submission, but that's at the VERY LAST STEP. I want to be able to print out before doing any filing screens at all, not be told that I can do it last.
Sometimes I am left guessing where to put things, like when I have a combined 1099INT & DIV. It isn't at all obvious what to do when the bank supplied form does not exactly correspond to the choices in TurboTax.
I appear to have been snagged by some weird requirement that I could not e-file because the zip code for a charity was not appropriate "for my state" when it was an out-of-state charity. I assumed that this had something to do with my state, but I couldn't e-file my federal and post my state separately either. Since I had already purchased the state e-file as well (it would have been nice to have run into this problem before purchasing the state e-file), I decided to delete the charity entirely. This lost me more than the price of the e-file, but at least I am done now.
What's great about it: Being led through forms with questions, Additional info in pop-ups
What's not so great: Still a little confusing, would like to print out before submission so my wife can review it
