Costed way more that expected

1- On cost. If you are only filing one return, and you are careful about buying the right combo (Fed+State +Free return) then there are no surprizes. If your are filing more than one return (like doing your kids returns) then beware of having to buy additional stuff that adds up quickly.
2- In general, if all that is required is for a 1040EZ type form (again, for a simple low wage earner, like your kids)then it may take much longer to step thru all the questions than really necessary.

I have been using TT for a number of years. We had a tax accountant but when he unexpectedly died, we started using TT. I couldn't do it myself without the guided tour thru the worksheets. Taxes are greek to me! sometimes I get confused when working the 1099 sections and the questions regarding the expenses that go along with that but that tends to be operator error. I get mixed up between 1099 business expenses vs job business expenses. :) I love TT and recommend it when I can.

The Easiest and Greatest

I have used Turbo Tax for over 5 years and it has always worked well for me. Easy to use step by step directions, easy to understand explanations, help if I need it. Start and stop as my schedule requires without losing anything. I love it and always recommend it to my friends and co-workers, even to my kids.
What's great about it: Step by step directions, explanations and lots of help
What's not so great: Can't think of a thing

Very good experience overall. Had trouble comprehending details of energy efficient upgrades, but this may be the IRS's fault!
