Love the design and layout of the refrigerator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this fridge in June and it was configured exactly the way I wanted a new fridge. However, I am a little disappointed that after only 4 months that we've already needed a new condenser fan on the ice maker and the seal on the freezer drawer was not sealing properly and needed to be adjusted. I know these items are covered under warranty and that hiccups occur, but I feel a better quality control process could have eliminated these issues. Overall I love my refrigerator and can look past these issues provided they don't snowball, especially when the warranty expires.

Poor Quality

We bought this refrigerator on 4/30/2017 to replace the fridge (different brand) that was original to the kitchen in our house which was about 12 years old and the water in the door stopped working. I have purchased Whirlpool products in the past 5 to 10 years (2 washing machines, two refrigerators including this one, and one dishwasher), and have had good experiences with them, but this particular model is a beautiful piece of junk. We entertain a lot, so the dual ice makers were a big selling point for us, and up until about a month ago, which just so happened to be a couple months out of the warranty period, the bottom freezer stopped cooling properly, so that ice maker won't work. The fridge still cools, but not enough. The unit makes so much noise I had to unplug because you could literally hear it throughout the entire house. Of course when I plugged it back in the day before the tech came out, it worked fine until yesterday when it started doing the same thing again. Beyond this, the first time it stopped working the ice dispenser would give you crushed ice when cubed was selected and vice versa, and this time a week or so before it stopped cooling, the lights quit working in the fridge portion, and the ice and water dispenser goes to auto fill every time. I'm fully expecting the repair service to quote me $1,000 or more to repair it, as I assume they will tell me it is the "mother board" you hear about all the time. I have a four year old Frigidaire at the bar in our basement that has given us absolutely no trouble. I will likely switch to Frigidaire for this unit too based on the performance issues when considering the price.

Design flaw

We have had this fridge for a little more than a year. Soon after we started using it we noticed the water/ice dispenser leaking water. We called for a repair and they replaced a part but it didn't fix the problem so we called again. The repair man looked at it but couldn't find the problem so he called Whirlpool and they said it was user error, that we had the door open too long so the ice was melting and leaking. I can assure you this is not true as the most water leaks in the morning when it hasn't been opened all night. But they said there's nothing they can do and we can no longer call for that problem anymore. My husband and I are convinced it is a design flaw, that's what happens when you store ice in the fridge and not the freezer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Happy with our decision

This was definitely an upgrade for us.Pros:1. the lighting so you can see everything2. individual storage compartments so you can keep things organized3. The automatic measured fill option on the H2o dispenser4. Slow-close drawers in the refrigerated storageCons: 1. Not a lot of tall-item storage. Not much room for condiments in the doors either.2. Both French doors are open when looking for things most of the time. I thought I would be conserving energy by only needing to open half of the door - but it always seems like I have to open both to get anything sizeable out.Overall I really like the fridge. You can hear it run, but it's not super loud. The ice maker works quickly and the height for fitting items under the water dispenser is tall enough for water bottles. I have two small children who have magnets on the front and fingerprints have not been an issue yet - but I did buy a protectant polish immediately upon delivery. I like having my produce off of the floor like it was in my old refrigerator. Very happy with my purchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had not bought a refrigerator in over 20 years. I had other Whirlpool products and was generally satisfied with them. I bought the 5 door model. I am getting use to having 2 doors. Most of the time I have to end up opening both doors which I am not crazy about. The refrigerator is deep which also requires both doors to be opened frequently. The refrigerator has a lot of storage space and I like the freezer on the bottom. It also has lots of room. I did not like the spacing on the inside of the right hand door. Once you put the milk in one of the three bins it does not leave much room to fit anything in the other 2. The opening are pretty narrow. You definitely can’t get anything tall in the other two. I don’t like the two separate drawers. They don’t hold that much. I think the single drawer would have been better. The water filter does a good job. The water and ice taste good. I would recommend this refrigerator especially if you needed a lot of space. The quality seems good.

This is the greatest fridge I have ever owned. My previous fridge was a whirlpool and just gave up after a 13 year fight with 5 KIDS! very battle tested! My new fridge will undoutely stand up to the challenge. Thank you for great products!
