The lid keeps popping off and the machine stops

The lid is the switch to this device and because of the rotation of the ice is the same direction as the lid turning to off, the machine switches off if you don't hold the lid down and tight counterclockwise. Now the problem isn't just the lid turning to the off position, the problem is once the lid pops up the ice gets underneath the base of a rotating chute and then you cannot close the lid. You then have to remove the rotating chute and empty all the ungrounded ice, then put the chute back in, put the ungrounded ice back in and then you put the lid back on to turn it counterclockwise to turn on. If the ice gets blocked or stuck, you have to do the emptying all over again. If the lid pops up, you have to do the emptying all over again. Repeat multiple times. Although in the end I do get shaved ice, I think there are better machines out there to do this job.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this excited to make my own slurpies/ slushies but after recieving it it looks good fun but the machine is built to cheap and poorly the design is great but materials not so great. Save your money use a blender as it will do a better job
