More than expectation

A99 has improved a lot from A850 in many ways.
Evf is an outstanding. It is nearly close to ovf quality and sometime i feel even better than ovf in lower light shooting place. LCD live mode is another great thing to me. It greatly helps in lower angle shooting. I love it.

But the most impressive is the picture noise control in lower lighting condition. It is amazingly improved. I can freely use up to 6400 in anytime.

Revolutionary AF

At first I was a bit sceptical about the new AF system. But the moment I pick up the camera, that worries disappear. Fast and accurate can't really do this justice. Paired with the Zeiss 24-70 it makes a perfect camera for me.
Being an ex-Canon user (5D and 1Dmk4), I can honestly say that this would be my best alpha yet! (a77 being my back up now)

This is my first impression of the a99 for now. Will post more once I have done a thorough use for a few months, but if this is a better a77 I am sure it will be great.

A simply great camera

Good but room for improvement

The A99 is a nice full frame camera, I find the EVF good in most circumstances except when shooting faster moving subjects in low light when i find the EVF to have to much lag, meaning when I press the shutter i don't get what I am seeing in the viewfinder but an image from about a tenth of a second later which when shooting a dancer for example I press the shutter when the subject is looking at the camera but the image will have them looking away if they are moving quickly, for most other situations its great. The tilting LCD is another great feature for photographing at unusual angles without having to lie in the mud. The autofocus is ok but the phase detect array was taken from the A77 which has good coverage on a cropped sensor but on a full frame sensor all of the auto focus points are crammed into the centre of the frame. Please Sony if you make a mark 2 A99 design a phase detect array for full frame. GPS is another nice feature very useful when traveling to record where images were taken.
